A Second Act for Distributed Wind Distributed wind has become something of a third wheel in recent years to the solar/storage marriage that dominates local energy projects. But could new designs and market conditions offer them a second act in virtual power plants, microgrids and rural energy systems? We released a bonus podcast this week that explores this issue with energy journalist and analyst Peter Asmus, who recently keynoted the Distributed Wind 2026 in Arlington, VA, hosted by the Distributed Wind Energy Association. https://lnkd.in/gXFJ7qu6

Our price simulations show that the number of negative hours in the year is set to increase in most markets until the early 2030s as solar and wind capacity increase without sufficient flexibility to absorb production surpluses. In this new Insight, Tasmin Chowdhary and Espen Andreassen look at how often negative hours may occur across Central Europe in the coming years as part of Volue's long-term power price modelling. 📈 Important trends in European power markets – and what it means for energy storage The latest Volue LinkedIn article by Tasmin Chowdhary highlights the increasing frequency of negative electricity price hours in Central Europe — This structural shift is impacting day‑ahead market dynamics and shaping investment signals for renewables and flexibility solutions like BESS. This is good news for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). As negative price events become more common, the value of storage — for shifting energy, capturing value, and supporting grid stability — grows rapidly. 👉 At Volue, we offer a suite of products to help businesses navigate and capitalize on these market dynamics. From forecasting and analytics to optimisation strategies that unlock maximum value. The global electricity system is entering a new phase. Over the past decade, the conversation centered on building wind, solar and storage as quickly as possible. That work continues but the conversation is shifting toward something more complex: system integration at scale. The real question now isn’t just which technologies work; it's which ones can scale reliably within the grid we actually have. I am looking forward to the conversations at #CERAWeek about what’s truly changing in power generation, and which pathways are positioned to scale. If you're following the discussion around the future electricity system, we’re tracking key insights throughout the week on our Energy Hub: https://hubs.li/Q046Bp6x0

What's the thread that connects energy resilience and independence; saving money; saving energy; EVs; incorporating more clean renewable wind and solar into our power grid; and deferring the need for new peak power plants? ENERGY STORAGE, both residential and grid scale. It's the subject of this week's chat with Vanessa Vander Valk on CBC Radio's Shift NB - listen in today after the 5:30 news!

Amazing to see the growth in wind and solar over the last 2 decades. Recently read that if the legacy wind turbines are repowered to the latest power classes we'd double wind power generation with that alone. I imagine we will be at 50% wind and solar by 2040. #nohormuzproblem

Can wind turbines and solar panels be created from a supply chain powered by wind turbines and solar panels? The answer is no. Both come from supply chains that are fossil fuel intensive and options do not yet exist, and may never exist. #energy #policy https://lnkd.in/ejSSEvr6
