Los Angeles Dodgers’ Post

The Dodgers Military Hero of the Game program is back for the 2026 season! In partnership with SoCal Pipe Trades District Council 16 and IBEW/NECA of Los Angeles County, the Dodgers will recognize one active-duty service member or veteran at every home game. For Opening Day, the Dodgers were proud to honor U.S. Army WWII Veteran, Sergeant Joseph Pietroforte. Drafted at 22, Pietroforte deployed to Europe in 1941 and went on to serve with extraordinary courage. During the Battle of the Bulge, he bravely saved his unit while under intense enemy fire, earning him the Silver Star. He continued to demonstrate that same unwavering courage as he fought across Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and Austria. Now 107 years young, Sergeant Pietroforte continues to be a source of inspiration, embodying service, resilience, and heroism. If you or a loved one are an active-duty service member or a veteran, and would like to be considered for this recognition, please follow the link below to apply. https://lnkd.in/gc_DXBzg

That’s awesome how the dodgers honor our military members. I was Military Hero of the Game on May 16 2015 a day I will always remember, was 15 days after I retired from the US NAVY.

What an incredible honor to see our beloved resident, Sergeant Joseph Pietroforte, celebrated by the Dodgers as Opening Day’s Military Hero of the Game. ⚾️🇺🇸 His story of bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering strength is a true inspiration to all of us. We are so proud to call him part of our community and celebrate this well-deserved recognition. 💙
