Donggin Shin, a 37-year-old violinist who has played with the Utah Symphony, was being held in a Colorado detention center more than 500 miles from his home.
It was largest single-site immigration raid in the history of Homeland Security Investigations and the result of a months-long probe, one official said.
Members of the group, backed by Venezuela's government, say they sought her assistance last month; the mothers and grandmothers stated that they can't contact the children in the U.S.
The ruling means 600,000 Venezuelans whose temporary protections expired in April or whose were about to expire Sept. 10 have status to stay and work in the United States.
The event was slated to be held Sept. 13-14 in the city’s Grant Park. No future date was given for the celebrations and the festival’s website said it was issuing refunds for all tickets.
The move is a major change for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which has been kept separate from immigration arrests and enforcing deportations.
