Prior to Real Simple, she worked at Marie Claire and the Hearst Beauty Hub, writing both print and digital beauty content across Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Seventeen, Woman's Day, and more. She has also been a regular contributor for InStyle and Reader's Digest, and done fragrance copywriting for FragranceX.

Hana got her start in beauty writing in college. In her second year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she won the esteemed Charla Krupp Foundation Award from a pool of hundreds of applicants and scored an internship with InStyle, where she got her start in the beauty world. Hana was also selected as one of 30 students for the competitive ASME Internship Program, where she was assigned to intern for Reader's Digest. Throughout college, she wrote for various publications to continue to grow her writing experience.

Upon graduation, she was offered a full-time position at the Hearst Beauty Hub, writing beauty content for more than eight lifestyle publications across Hearst (including Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Seventeen, Woman's Day, O the Oprah Magazine, and more).

She then worked full time at Marie Claire writing both print and digital beauty content for two years before accepting her current role at Real Simple.

Hana Hong graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Journalism.
