In the British Vogue office, the split-toe Nike Rift 2 has emerged as the trainer of the summer, with retro Nike Moons and colourful Adidas Gazelles coming in a close second and third in terms of colour-infused holiday dressing. But with the release of Miu Miu’s Bubble trainers, an ergonomic bouncy-toed reissue of an archive ’00s silhouette, we predict that Mrs Prada-approved compost heap brown will be the sneaker shade for autumn. It’s the perfect transitional hue, less stark than black, and also taps into the antiquey hues that dominated autumn/winter 2026’s Art Deco-inspired silhouettes.
Brown was also a theme on the recent men’s catwalks, from Dries Van Noten’s signature low profile sneakers imagined in delectable caramel hues, to Celine’s take on the 1982 Reebok Freestyle in nutty pecan.
