The suede jacket resurgence started (as many of these things do) with Prada with its autumn/ winter 2023 show, as throughout the collection chestnut oversized suede blazers were paired with white skirts, from minis to full midi-skirts. Stripped of all fringing and embellishment, Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada repositioned the suede jacket as an elevated staple, removing it of all Woodstock hippie connotations, setting the tone for what was to come. The Miuccia endorsement has continued into the autumn/winter 2025 collections, where a suede bomber instantly made its way onto Vogue editor’s new-season wishlists. The varsity silhouette, contrast sleeves and knitted cuffs all combine to give it a sporty edge. Elsewhere in the autumn/winter 2025 runways, Coach presented longline aviator coats and Hermès had a pale green zip-up style.
Bomber jackets are of course also key to Anthony Vaccarello’s vision at Saint Laurent (realised in both leather and suede), while Parisian label Nour Hammour has built a reputation for its buttery suede outerwear from barn jackets to bombers to trench coats.
