At Automattic, we’re committed to making WordPress smarter, faster, and easier for everyone. Today, we’re announcing the acquisition of a company that’s going to help us in that mission: WPAI.
WPAI is an AI startup, focused on building AI solutions for WordPress. The brilliant founding team behind it—James LePage, Greg Hunt, and Ovidiu “Ovi” Iulian Galatan—will be joining Automattic to lead the exploration of applied AI as an interaction paradigm for WordPress. They’ll be working on testing, building, and integrating innovative AI solutions into the core ecosystem to redefine how users and developers work with WordPress.
WPAI is known for its innovative products like CodeWP, an AI integrated development environment (IDE) for WordPress developers, and AgentWP, one of the earliest implementations of an autonomous AI agent capable of executing complex tasks through independent reasoning and logic, marking a significant advancement in practical AI applications for CMSs. The technology powering these platforms will be reimagined and integrated into new offerings at Automattic.
By integrating WPAI’s innovative tools, data, and expertise, Automattic is paving the way for an even more seamless WordPress experience. Whether it’s empowering developers to create smarter, faster, or enabling site managers to interact with their websites intuitively, this collaboration represents an exciting leap forward in the WordPress ecosystem.
