Back to eating mumโ€™s home-cooked dinner. Same Spicy Red Snapper since she bought a few of the fish ๐ŸŸ steaks. I am not complaining since I like the fish cooked with our home blended chilli paste. The vegetable ๐Ÿฅฌ dish is Stir-Fried Cabbage with Scallops, minced pork and some sort of fried bean curd skin product. As for the steamed rice, a mixture of purple and white grains.

Next day, I bought myself packed Economy Rice (่œ้ฅญ) because mum already had something else to eat. From the left, stewed potato ๐Ÿฅ” slices, cabbage ๐Ÿฅฌ stir-fry and some chopped up slices of crispy chicken ๐Ÿ“ cutlet over a bed of white rice. Just a simple and fulfilling dinner to quell the hunger.

Tonightโ€™s dinner is mumโ€™s home-cooked meals, starting off with this plate of Pea Shoots & Scallops Stir-Fry ๐ŸŒฟ with minced pork and tomato wedges ๐Ÿ… in oyster sauce. The next dish is her signature Spicy Red Snapper ๐ŸŸ with chunky boneless pieces of fish meat and tomato. On the last plate, bouncy Fried Fishcakes ๐ŸŸ sliced up to go with the steamed purple and white mixed rice.

My takeaway Economy Rice (่œ้ฅญ) I bought on the way home from work as mum did not want dinner. I selected nuggets of fried fish ๐ŸŸ, a piece of stewed, fried bean curd skin and a medley of vegetables and meat stir-fry. The dish has carrot ๐Ÿฅ•, shimeji mushrooms ๐Ÿ„โ€๐ŸŸซ, snow peas ๐Ÿซ›, young corns ๐ŸŒฝ and boneless chunks of chicken ๐Ÿ“ meat to go with the steamed white rice.

Mum diced up the barbecued pork and used it to cook with cabbages ๐Ÿฅฌ and tomato. Not bad tasting for this plate of Char Siu & Cabbage Stir-Fry. Next up, the Ngo Hiang (ไบ”้ฆ™ๅท) and Fishcake (้ฑผ้ฅผ) are refreshed in hot oil and sliced up. Finally, three steaks of batang or Spanish Mackerel ๐ŸŸ fried till golden-brown. I didnโ€™t take a lot of rice as there are already many dishes piled on my plate though I did add a little Nyonya Achar, a spicy and tangy Southeast Asian pickled vegetable dish, with spices, vinegar, salt, and sugar.

These plump and juicy Fried Chicken Mid Wings are one of our favourites. Dusted with seasoned flour and deep-fried, they are so flavourful and crispy. The Dou Miao (่ฑ†่‹—) or Peaโ€™s Shoots ๐ŸŒฟ mum cooked it with canned abalones, minced pork and tomato ๐Ÿ… wedges. There are usually some Roasted Pork ๐Ÿ– (็ƒง่‚‰) sitting somewhere in the fridge and mum reheat them for dinner.

Mum prepped this plate of stir-fried Peaโ€™s Shoots ๐ŸŒฟ (่ฑ†่‹—) with pigโ€™s heart, prawns ๐Ÿฆ and tomato ๐Ÿ… wedges. The sliced heart is tough and chewy so we mainly left it untouched. The fried bean curds I ate it with chilli sauce so I went with lesser rice. Boiled Pork Belly ๐Ÿ– is sliced and drizzled with a soya sauce while the roasted chicken ๐Ÿ“ which are actually fried are bought in the morning when mum visited the Chong Pang.

Dinner is mumโ€™s home-cooked meal. Starting clockwise from the left is Bok Choy Stir-Fry ๐Ÿฅฌ with squid ๐Ÿฆ‘ and tomato, a steak of pan-fried batang or Spanish Mackerel ๐ŸŸ and boneless chicken stir-fry. The fried egg ๐Ÿณ is left over from the afternoon when mum cooked two to make sandwich.

Brought mum to 85 Redhill Teochew Fishball Noodles at the basement floor of Sun Plaza. Got the dry style Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle ๐Ÿœ (้ฆ™๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ่‚‰่„ž้ข) for mum. Unlike the brown sauce used elsewhere, this stall retained the old school ketchup-based ๐Ÿ… sauce. The thin egg noodles (mee kia) topped with minced pork & pork slices, braised slices of mushroom ๐Ÿ„โ€๐ŸŸซ, fish ball and garnished with spring onions.

I had Laksa ๐Ÿœ (ๅปๆฒ™) and took up the set meal option, which comes with sliced Fried Fishcake ๐ŸŸ (้ฑผ้ฅผ) and Ice Lemon Tea ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿฅค. This is a spicy noodle dish popular in Southeast Asia consisting of various types of noodles, most commonly thick rice noodles, with toppings such as blood cockles and prawns. In Singapore ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ laksa is prepared with a rich and spicy coconut ๐Ÿฅฅ curry soup or a broth topped with finely sliced laksa leaves ๐ŸŒฟ (Vietnamese Mint, Vietnamese Coriander).

Mumโ€™s appetite isnโ€™t that good anymore, so she asked for just two dishes to go with her Economy Rice (่œ้ฅญ) meal box. Got her the usual sweet & sour pork with stewed pumpkin ๐ŸŽƒ to go with the rice. I went with boneless fried chicken cutlet, stewed slices of potato ๐Ÿฅ” and stir-fried bitter gourd ๐Ÿฅ’ with egg.
