Rob Tyrie shared thisPay attention to this one... hybrid work makes the most sense. Interesting study from Adam Grant and co. Maybe it's time to question leaders who want to work with patterns that are stuck on 5 days a week in the office. I think it's definitely role dependent at a minimum. Rob Tyrie reposted thisI simply cannot describe the excitement, satisfaction and tremendous sense of pride that comes from being able to share that my daughter Hannah Hutzul is on track to graduate from Laurier Business with an HBBA | Co-op Option and a specialization in Marketing (following in my footsteps)! She's looking for her first full-time, rock-star opportunity! I'm asking anyone in my extended network to help her out by 1) reposting this for reach and visibility 2) directly sharing any job opportunities that might be a fit and/or 3) taking 15-20 mins to meet with her, (she'll buy you a coffee) to share any insights, guidance or networking recommendations you think might be beneficial in her search.Rob Tyrie reposted thisAfter four years at Wilfrid Laurier, multiple case competitions, three co-op placements within three completely different industries, and in-depth reviews of more marketing textbooks than I care to count, I am about to cross the finish line! I’m graduating with an Honours BBA and am actively looking for my first full-time role. I have experience across a wide range of marketing functions: brand & content, social media & influencer, email & digital campaigns, campaign management, market research & competitive analysis, experiential & event program execution, and performance tracking & reporting. My co-op experiences spanned B2B SaaS, B2C in the health & wellness space, and experiential marketing in beverage alcohol, all of which developed the skills and ability to work in fast-moving environments, across varied industries and the ability to adapt quickly while delivering results against defined business objectives. I am open to a broad range of roles and industries. I am, however, particularly interested in opportunities where a brand has a well-developed personality and a robust community built around it: food & beverage, fashion & apparel, beauty & wellness, books & publishing, hospitality, technology and more generally, lifestyle brands. If you are hiring, know someone who is, or are open to spending 20 minutes with me over a virtual coffee - I'll buy, I would love to connect. Informational interviews, warm introductions, job offers, guidance or a nudge in the right direction: all of the support is appreciated at this stage. From Waterloo to Toronto and beyond. Let's talk. #OpenToWork #MarketingJobs #BrandMarketing #ContentMarketing #ClassOf2026 #WilfridLaurier #Marketing #BBA

Rob Tyrie shared thisLike - It's the depth. This is what it takes to scale #ai.Rob Tyrie shared thisAI governance cannot stay as a policy document. It has to become an operating system. Not just “rules for AI,” but a set of operating controls around data, models, people, and audit. The hard part is not writing down principles like fairness, transparency, or accountability. The hard part is making sure every AI system has: - clear ownership, - known data sources, - access controls, - testing before deployment, - human review paths, - and audit trails when something goes wrong. A few practical questions that may be worth asking as a team: 1. Do we know where AI is already being used inside the company? 2. Does every AI system have an owner? 3. Do we know what data it uses, and whether that data is fresh, permissioned, and traceable? 4. Have we tested the model for performance, bias, failure modes, and drift? 5. Is there a clear human escalation path when the AI output is uncertain or high-risk? 6. Can we prove what happened later through logs, policies, and audit trails? If you’d like to go deeper on this, we’ve put together a course for people working across governance, risk, compliance, and legal: AI Systems, Governance and Risk for Legal Professionals | Jul 14 🔗https://lnkd.in/grzw-dNk * It currently has a 20% early bird discount, so move fast if you decide to join. Rob Tyrie shared thisInsurance leaders showing results from AI are leaders. This means that in Life and P&C your playing catch-up or holding your card close to your chest. Unfortunately hiding the gains or the moves is just not possible in the large public companies. Use cases are broadening and it's not just code moderation and generation... it's pricing, submissions, underwriting and performance analysis plus more. Even the mutuals will have to shift in response to obvious pressures to apply AI. Will insurtech vendors respond? Applied AI is maturing and the budgets will be large. #ai #insurance #manulife #sunlife #intact #allstate #BIGInsuranceRob Tyrie shared thisTwo Canadian insurers, Manulife and Intact, are a rarity in an industry that has so far failed to show if AI investments are paying off. https://lnkd.in/dFZh4ab5

Rob Tyrie liked thisRob Tyrie liked thisI’m grateful to be featured by Trending 2026 and recognized for my work in building and advancing the InsurTech ecosystem. For me, this recognition is much less about an individual achievement and much more about the journey we have built together. Over the years, my focus has been on connecting people, ideas and opportunities across the insurance industry — bringing together startups, insurers, investors, regulators and partners, and creating platforms that can turn innovation into real business impact. At InsurTech Israel, we have worked to build much more than an innovation hub. We have created an ecosystem around investment, business development, media and acceleration, with the goal of helping Israeli technologies connect with the global insurance industry and grow internationally. None of this happens alone. I have been fortunate to work alongside outstanding entrepreneurs, partners, colleagues, mentors and insurance executives in Israel and around the world who share the belief that collaboration is one of the strongest engines of innovation. Thank you again to Trending 2026 for the recognition and for highlighting this journey. There is still a lot more to build. #InsurTech #Insurance #Innovation #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #InsurTechIsrael #Ecosystem

Rob Tyrie liked thisRob Tyrie liked thisI've been harping on about Cyber insurance to colleagues of mine for a while now and last week we saw further proof why. Munich Re, the world's largest reinsurer, agreed to buy At-Bay for $575mn citing the need to keep up with a Cyber market that is rapidly evolving from providing standalone coverage towards integrated, continuously managed risk mitigation platforms. At-Bay doesn't underwrite like a traditional carrier. It proactively monitors its policyholders' security in real time, continuously identifying, monitoring, and ultimately reducing insured cyber risk. That proactive risk mitigation and technology capability is the asset Munich Re is paying for. The same week, Gallagher Re launched a digital risk practice built around the other side of the same problem. Everyone now runs on the same cloud software, AI models, and data centres. One failure can hit thousands of insureds at once. Most clients have lost sight of where their exposure stacks up. Is the market growing? Yes. I see this as graduation, not retreat. But the basis of competition just changed. The question used to be who's brave enough to write cyber...now it's who can keep up. In today's volatile world, the risk experiences significant quarter-to-quarter fluctuations, as well as and throwing up events no one has priced before, and the biggest player just agreed to buy a cutting-edge technology capability. Here's the trap for everyone else. You can buy companies. You can buy data. You can hire Actuaries. But most carriers still can't get an updated Cyber product to market quickly enough to respond to the previous quarter's market fluctuations. If repricing takes two quarters to reach your distribution channels, better data just means finding out sooner that you've mispriced. Keeping up arguably beats knowing more in this current market. When you last shipped a material insurance product change, how long before it was live in every channel? Curious what specialty carriers are seeing.

Rob Tyrie liked thisRob Tyrie liked thisPOV: you took the CIO job to modernize everything. Eight months in, you're on a first name basis with the claims platform's error messages. 2am. Phone buzzing. Same system, same freeze, same fire drill. You swore this year would be different. You had the roadmap. The vision. The slide about "innovation-led transformation" everyone clapped for. Instead you're back on the couch, laptop glowing, patching the same legacy system so the lights are on before your first meeting. Every insurance CIO knows this scene by heart. The team getting faster at responding instead of getting time to actually rebuild. The modernization budget that keeps losing to "just get it running again." You didn't take this job to be really, really good at firefighting. You took it to stop needing to. The outages don't stop because everyone gets better at 2am calls. They stop when someone finally gets the time and backing to replace what keeps breaking, instead of patching it one more time. Until then, set an alarm. You know the one.

Rob Tyrie liked thisRob Tyrie liked thisI grew up in Montreal and learned French early. French kindergarten. French through high school in Ontario. At which point I was bilingual. I dreamt in French, thought in French, could speak it well. Then I lost it over the years of university, working, and living in Ontario, French wasn't part of my day-to-day life. Every so often, like a week in Laval with friend's family where no one spoke English, visits back to Montreal, visiting my son when he was in Paris, a bit of it would come back. A few years ago, in Montreal, I listened to a store employee go back and forth, English to French, French to English, effortlessly, seamlessly. I felt the loss of what I once had. A few months ago, my son told me he was relearning French. Duolingo, 15 minutes a day. He has a goal to work in Switzerland and felt being able to speak French would be helpful. The irony of course is that he spent 5 months in Paris 2 years ago and maybe could order his coffee in French. I thought that it was a good idea. And started to think it would be good idea for me too. I love Montreal (still feels like home), Quebec City and Paris. Travelling to those spots would be much easier if I could communicate effectively. And then there is the assault on French language from the outside. Quebec, bilingualism, is part of who we are as Canadians. It is an official language; it is not an inconvenience. Over 20% percent of Canadians cite French as their first language and close to 30% of Canadians can hold their own in a conversation in French. Quebec and French are part of Canada, part of who we are as Canadians, not just some of us, all of us. So I have decided to actively reclaim that part of me that I lost, for many reasons. Better brain health, solidarity, connection and now, just maybe a quiet, personal act of rebellion. Je me souviens.

This is an excellent read. AI has the ability to shape a bright economic future for Canada. Building productivity, attracting investment and empowering Canadian companies in every industry. But AI sovereignty / protectionist policies simply aren’t the answer or the right approach. “Ottawa lacks the state capacity to deliver on AI sovereignty. The federal government has enough on its plate with basic service delivery. Meta has invested billions of dollars to deliver high-performing AI models and improves those models continuously. Microsoft and Amazon, similarly, have been building global cloud capacity for decades. To imagine that Ottawa could—or should—design and operate globally competitive AI infrastructure, regulate platforms, and direct investment at scale, maintaining the race to build new foundational models, is simply not realistic. The likely result would be vast public expenditures, underperforming domestic platforms, and frustrated users who turn to global alternatives anyway.”

We don’t need quotas or percentage carve-outs for small and medium businesses to access public sector procurement. That kind of handout still leaves large firms in the driver’s seat — and too often delivers inferior outcomes for Canadians. What we need is simple: remove the entrance barriers. Cut the red tape, stop forcing companies to spend months writing volumes to respond to a bid, and eliminate the excessive legal risks that scare off innovators before they even start. Small firms can solve government problems, and bring innovation in record time and at a fraction of the cost, precisely because they don’t carry the overhead of incumbents. But if the procurement system remains a fortress of complexity, Canada’s most innovative companies will take their ideas elsewhere — to markets with fewer barriers and faster paths to revenue. Yesterday’s Competition Bureau Summit rightly focused on reducing regulatory burden, and Minister Joly’s comment that Canada will get “hawkish” on competition is a strong signal. The public sector can leverage Lean-Agile Procurement to lead by example: make procurement participation easy, accessible, and fair — and Canadian entrepreneurs will deliver the innovation, speed, and outcomes our country needs.
