Inquiry Regarding USB Network Connectivity Between an iPad (Wi‑Fi Model) and an Embedded Linux Device
Inquiry) Inquiry Regarding USB Network Connectivity Between an iPad (Wi‑Fi Model) and an Embedded Linux Device An embedded device (OS: Linux) is connected to an iPad (Wi‑Fi model) using a USB‑C cable. The ipheth driver is installed on the embedded device, and the iPad is recognized correctly. A web server is running on the embedded device. To launch a browser on the iPad and access the web server running on the embedded device via a USB network connection. Based on our verification, the iPad is not assigned an IP address, and therefore communication with the web server on the embedded device is not possible. We would appreciate it if you could provide guidance on the following questions. We would like to assign an IP address to the iPad (Wi‑Fi Model) so that it can communicate with the embedded device over a USB network connection. Is there a way to achieve this through the standard settings on the iPad? If this cannot be achieved through settings alone, are there any existing applications that provide this functionality? If no such application currently exists, is it technically possible to develop an application that enables this capability on iPadOS? Information) The USB‑C port on the embedded device is fixed in HOST mode. The embedded device operates as the USB host, and the iPad operates as a USB device. When a cellular model iPad is connected and “Personal Hotspot” is enabled, an IP address is assigned via DHCP, and we have confirmed that the web server can be accessed from the iPad’s browser. We are investigating whether a similar solution is possible with a Wi‑Fi model iPad.

AccessorySetupKit: Can I use bluetoothNameSubstring be used without bluetoothCompanyIdentifier?
I'm integrating AccessorySetupKit for BLE earbuds discovery and running into an issue with ASDiscoveryDescriptor configuration. Our earbuds don't have a fixed Bluetooth SIG company identifier. So I'm trying to use bluetoothNameSubstring + bluetoothServiceUUID instead. However, this combination never discovers any devices. The picker appears but stays empty. As soon as I add a bluetoothCompanyIdentifier, the device is found instantly. I reproduced this with my Bose QC35 II as well, so it's not specific to our hardware. My configuration: bluetoothServiceUUID: set to our custom UUID bluetoothNameSubstring: set to a substring matching the advertised device name NSAccessorySetupBluetoothServices + NSAccessorySetupBluetoothNames both set in Info.plist supportedOptions: .bluetoothPairingLE iOS 26.3.1, iPhone 11 The documentation doesn't mention that bluetoothCompanyIdentifier is required. Is bluetoothCompanyIdentifier actually required for BLE discovery? If so, is there a recommended approach for devices that don't have a fixed company identifier?

We are currently developing a FindMy device and we're wondering how to use UWB ranging functionality in the "Find My" app.
The FindMy device is currently MFI certified, but we plan to support UWB ranging functionality in the Find My app, similar to AirTag. After searching for relevant information, I found the relevant UWB functions in this article "Nearby-Interaction-Accessory-Protocol-Specification-Release-R4", but we need to develop third-party applications ourselves. So how can we make it display distance and direction in the "Find My" app like AirTag does?

How to initiate native cellular calls without user confirmation from a companion app (like Meta Ray-Ban glasses)
We are building an AI-powered smart glasses companion app, similar to Meta Ray-Ban. We want to provide true hands-free calling support. Right now, whenever the app tries to dial a native cellular call, iOS shows a confirmation screen that requires the user to tap to start the call. If the user always has to confirm/tap on the phone screen, there is no real point in using smart glasses for making calls. How can we initiate a native outgoing call without any confirmation dialog or extra tap, exactly like Siri does it, or like the Meta Ray-Ban glasses do when the user says “Hey Meta, call [name]” Please guide us on the correct APIs, entitlements, or integration path to achieve this behavior. Thank you.

AirPods 4 Bluetooth Firmware Bug in L2CAP
Hello, I am a Bluetooth Engineer at Google investigating an interoperability bug between an Android device and AirPods 4. When requesting an L2CAP connection (with PSM = AVDTP) to the AirPods during SDP service discovery, The AirPods L2CAP layer incorrectly responds with a "refused - no resources available" status followed by a Pending status and a Success status. This violates the specification, which says that the request has been fully rejected after the refused status and should not receive followup responses. I suspect the "no resources available" response is a bug. This prevents A2DP from working with the AirPods. This bug does not exist with AirPods 2 firmware. How can I obtain the documentation for the specific implementation of WAC?
Hi everyone, We are currently exploring ways to implement a frictionless Wi-Fi setup for our hardware devices without requiring a dedicated third-party application. We are interested in leveraging Apple's WAC (Wireless Accessory Configuration) to sync Wi-Fi credentials directly from iOS devices. However, we have struggled to find comprehensive technical documentation or specifications regarding the WAC service. Could anyone point us to the official source for these materials? Additionally, we have a couple of technical questions: 1.We are testing WAC provisioning and found that the Home app can discover our device and successfully get it online. However, it always ends with a "Failed to add accessory" message. Does WAC support imply that a device should be addable via the Home app? If not, why is the Home app able to discover and start the setup for a non-HomeKit WAC device? 2. Our device is already Apple AirPlay certified. Does implementing WAC require additional standalone certification, or is it covered under the existing MFi/AirPlay certification umbrella? Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

AppleAVBAudio assertion information
Hi, I'm currently developping an AVB hardware device, and I'm currently stuck because because the apple AVB stack is throwing me errors without much informations. Is there any way to have more information about these assertions and why they are happening ? Furtermore is there any documentation on theAppleAVBAudio module ? iAP2 IdentificationInformation Rejected - Product Plan Status Question
Hello, We are developing an iAP2 accessory and encountering an issue during the Identification phase. Issue: Authentication: ✅ Successful Identification: ❌ IdentificationInformation rejected (0x1D03) Product Plan Status: "Submitted" (in MFi Portal) What we've verified: ProductPlanUID matches MFi Portal All required parameters per R43 Table 101-9 are included Parameters are in ascending order by ID Message format appears correct Observation: iPhone accepts the message format but still rejects IdentificationInformation, suggesting the issue may be related to Product Plan configuration or status rather than parameter format. Questions: Can a Product Plan with status "Submitted" complete iAP2 identification, or does it need to be "Approved"? Are there any Product Plan configuration requirements that might not be visible in MFi Portal? Should we configure "Control Message Lists" in Product Plan? (We don't see this option in Portal) We can provide additional technical details through secure channels if needed. Thank you for your assistance.

How to Use AccessorySetupKit to Establish a Wi‑Fi Aware Connection with a Hardware Accessory
We are currently planning to develop a third‑party hardware accessory that supports Wi‑Fi Aware using AccessorySetupKit on iOS, based on the official documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/accessorysetupkit/ Before finalizing our hardware and firmware design, we would like to better understand the real‑world behavior and user experience of Wi‑Fi Aware in actual third‑party accessories. Specifically, we would like to ask: Existing Third‑Party Hardware Are there any commercially available third‑party accessories (not Apple products) that already support Wi‑Fi Aware via AccessorySetupKit? If so, are there any public examples, reference designs, or recommended products we can purchase to observe the real onboarding, discovery, and pairing experience? Reference or Evaluation Hardware Does Apple provide any reference hardware, evaluation kits, or recommended vendor solutions (for example, based on common Wi‑Fi chipsets) that are known to work well with Wi‑Fi Aware on iOS? Are there specific Wi‑Fi chipset vendors that have validated interoperability with AccessorySetupKit? Practical Behavior and Limitations In real usage, what are the typical discovery latency, reliability, and background/foreground behavior developers should expect? Are there known limitations or best practices when designing hardware that relies on Wi‑Fi Aware for initial accessory discovery and setup? Our goal is to evaluate the feasibility and user experience of Wi‑Fi Aware for third‑party accessories by testing against existing implementations or recommended hardware, before investing heavily in custom hardware development. Any guidance, examples, or pointers to existing accessories or partners would be greatly appreciated.

pairedUUIDsDidChangeNotification never fires, even with MFi hearing aids paired
Hi everyone — I’m implementing the new Hearing Device Support API described here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/accessibility/hearing-device-support I have MFi hearing aids paired and visible under Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Devices, and I’ve added the com.apple.developer.hearing.aid.app entitlement (and also tested with Wireless Accessory Configuration: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/entitlements/com.apple.external-accessory.wireless-configuration ). com.apple.developer.hearing.aid.app xxxxx but the app won't even compile with this entitlement Problem NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(...) for pairedUUIDsDidChangeNotification never fires — not on app launch, not after pairing/unpairing, and not after reconnecting the hearing aids. Because the notification never triggers, calls like: HearingDeviceSession.shared.pairedDevices always return an empty list. What I expected According to the docs, the notification should be posted whenever paired device UUIDs change, and the session should expose those devices — but nothing happens. Questions Does the hearing.aid.app entitlement require special approval from Apple beyond adding it to the entitlements file? Is there a way to verify that iOS is actually honoring this entitlement? Has anyone successfully received this notification on a real device? Any help or confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

Mac OS X App for collecting linear displacement of a sample
I have a small furnace that heats a sample of my product, a cylinder measuring 20mm x 100mm. As it is heated, there is thermal expansion, and I at this moment read (using my eyes) a micrometer dial gauge and type into my app the value read in hundredths of a millimeter. My source code uses quartz to draw a PDF graph that represents this thermal expansion. I would like to enhance my set up by getting my app to collect the linear displacement from my dilatometer furnace. One possibility I have been trying to implement is to have my app collect DC millivolts from an instrument, like a voltmeter reading the output of an LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer), but the model I have requires MODBUS-RTU protocol, which is not well implemented by Mac OS X developers. It requires an USB-Serial converter, which complicates things and makes it more unreliable. At this moment, I have to sit next to my furnace and type into my app the temperature and linear displacement for 3 hours. I would like to read some comments and suggestions from you or an Apple Engineer and how this could be achieved. Here is a video of my dilatometer furnace: https://www.correiofacil.com/video/IMG_8888.MOV Here is a PDF I generated using my APP: https://www.correiofacil.com/PDF/117.pdf Here is a video showing how I type data manually into my app: https://www.correiofacil.com/video/recording2.mov Here is a video that shows my app drawing a graph: https://www.correiofacil.com/video/recording1.mov These 2 images show my attempts to use the app ModBusRtuMaster to collect data from the voltmeter which at this moment fails: https://www.correiofacil.com/PDF/8f9be971dee32a58c36b307dbab3dc2d.png https://www.correiofacil.com/PDF/4ac20c2ea762fd42ed340a7a2b567900.png You will notice that although the instrument is displaying 0.000 volts, the data collected changes at each message I send to the instrument, proving me that Modbus RTU set up is not working. Here is a link to the manual of the DC voltmeter I am using: https://www.correiofacil.com/PDF/manual1.pdf Here is an image of the LVDT I am trying to use: https://www.correiofacil.com/PDF/e0349986512f9273b26b209baa3ba5c7.png Here is the manual for the LVDT: https://www.correiofacil.com/PDF/GGD19.pdf I suspect that there could be a completely different approach to collecting the data and inputting into my app, maybe Bluetooth? Maybe using a Mitutoyo gauge such as? This: https://www.mitutoyo.com/Images/CatalogUS-1003/resources/_pdfs_/US-1003_Catalog_251.pdf And a cable with SPC support like this: https://www.gw-style.com/product-p-942977.html I am very grateful for your comments

USB audio/midi interface with OS 26 Tahoe
The first Beta install stopped recognizing a Yamaha USB audio interface. The next two installs brought the recognition back. The last Beta install doesn't recognize the interface completely. The midi implementation works but the audio implementation isn't recognized in Audio/Midi setup. This might be something to look at in the next Beta release or something audio interface venders should look at in their next driver release.

HID Braille keyboard support on iPhone 6S
Hello, I am working on a Braille keyboard by using HID approach. Current the device works with iPhone 11 and SE3. However, when tested in iPhone 6s with iOS 15, although the device can be connected and recognized as Braille device in VoiceOver screen, the phone shows no response to key press report. Would there be any requirement at points such as HID descriptor for iPhone 6s support on Braille device? If iPhone 6s does not support such devices, what is the minimum system requirements? Thank you!

Set the icon displayed in the battery widget
Hi all, In InfiniTime, somebody finally implemented ANCS which forced iOS to encrypt the ble connection. As a result, my PineTime appears in the battery widget. Unfortunately, I only get a Bluetooth logo as the icon. Ideally it would be a smartwatch glyph. The GAP appearance value is being set to 0xC2 (smartwatch) Note: I've used CMF watches in the past, and they display with a smartwatch icon Any thoughts?

During the Wi-Fi Aware's pairing process, Apple is unable to recognize the follow-up PMF sent by Android.
iPhone 12 pro with iOS 26.0 (23A5276f) App: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/wifiaware/building-peer-to-peer-apps We aim to use Wi-Fi Aware to establish file transfer between Android and Apple devices. Apple will act as the Publisher, and Android will act as the Subscriber. According to the pairing process outlined in the Wi-Fi Aware protocol (Figure 49 in the Wi-Fi Aware 4.0 specification), the three PASN Authentication frames have been successfully exchanged. Subsequently, Android sends the encrypted Follow-up PMF to Apple, but the Apple log shows: Failed to parse event. Please refer to the attached complete log. We request Apple to provide a solution. apple Log-20250808a.txt

Apple-Android pairing via Wi-Fi Aware is close to success, but the paird device was not successfully saved to disk
After Apple-to-Apple pairing is completed, the paired device will be recorded in “Settings → Privacy & Security → Paired Devices”. However, after Android-to-Apple pairing is completed, the device is not saved to this list. Android device can be normally displayed on the Apple official Wi-Fi Aware Sample. However, the indicator is not green. During pairing, the Apple log shows: state: authenticated, and the Android side triggers the callback onPairingSetupSucceeded. During pairing verification, the Apple log shows: state: authenticated, and the Android side triggers the callback onPairingVerificationSucceed. My iPhone is iPhone 13, iOS 26.0 (23A5287g)

Wi-Fi Aware: During the process of establishing a NAN data path between Android and Apple, why doesn’t Apple respond to the NDP response?
Our goal is to establish a Wi‑Fi Aware data path (NDP) between Apple and Android devices. Apple will act as the Publisher, and Android will act as the Subscriber. Apple-to-Android pairing has already been completed. The Android device can be normally displayed on the Apple official Wi-Fi Aware Sample. The Android side sends an NDP request to Apple (as shown in the figure 1), but Apple does not reply. Note: Qualcomm’s NDI and NMI are different. In addition, after Apple-to-Apple pairing is completed, the paired device will be recorded in “Settings → Privacy & Security → Paired Devices”. However, after Android-to-Apple pairing is completed, the device is not saved to this list. My iPhone model: iPhone 13, iOS 26.0 (23A5287g).

Hi, I'm currently developping an AVB hardware device, and I'm currently stuck because because the apple AVB stack is throwing me errors without much informations. Is there any way to have more information about these assertions and why they are happening ? Furtermore is there any documentation on theAppleAVBAudio module ? It would be very handy Here are the logs shown in the console: Filtering the log data using "process == "coreaudiod"" Timestamp Thread Type Activity PID TTL 2025-12-05 15:44:27.087043+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.087545+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.088043+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.088546+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.089043+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.089545+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.090043+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.090545+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.091043+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.091545+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.092044+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.092544+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.093044+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.093552+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.094050+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533 2025-12-05 15:44:27.094543+0100 0x15ae74 Default 0x0 12965 0 coreaudiod: (AppleAVBAudio) Assert: <private> (value 0x0 0), <private> file: <private>, line: 1533

iAP2 IdentificationInformation Rejected - Product Plan Status Question
