Going Down is a 32-level megawad for Doom II designed for Boom-compatible source ports, created by Cyriak Harris (mouldy). The first incomplete version, containing only 11 levels, was released on October 22, 2013.[1] On April 3, 2014, mouldy released an update which added maps 12-20, 31 and 32.[2] On September 14, 2014, mouldy released the first full version with all 32 levels.[3] The final version was uploaded to the idgames archive on November 2, 2014. The WAD features its own original soundtrack by the same author. It is known for its small, fairly hard maps with high body counts, and gameplay the author has described as "chaotic-evil".
The WAD was named as a winner of the 21st Annual Cacowards. In 2023, Going Down was also included in Doomworld's Doot Eternal music feature for Doom's 30th anniversary.
In November 2024, on the 10th anniversary of Going Down's release, Harris released a special edition of it called Going Down: Turbo. Both editions became featured mods for Doom + Doom II.

Story[edit]
Something went wrong at a UAC office building, and Doomguy is sent to investigate, starting from the top of the skyscraper and getting to the bottom of the story. While doing so, he is often interrupted by nagging phone calls from his mother, which advance the plot humorously: accessing the secret levels, for example, is explained in-story as going back to the roof to get a better reception.

Custom monster[edit]
- Spiderdemon boss
- The only custom monster added by the DEHACKED lump is the red-colored version of the spiderdemon, that acts as a boss of the penultimate level, MAP29: Demolition. It has 12000 hit points and replaces the Wolfenstein SS. This monster is not named in-game, so the name given here is not official and is used simply for convenience. It was created by James Caldwell (Obsidian), who said that he "originally made something a lot more complex, but mouldy reckoned it diverted the flow of the gameplay too much from the centre".[4]
