The Cognition Engine is a two-level PWAD for Doom II and a limit-removing source port that was released on February 3, 2023. It was designed by Snowy44 and the main level uses the music track "MM018GM" by Mark Morgan, from Dark Seed II. It also includes a small secret level, MAP31: The Secret Ending using music track "Beach Music" by Tommy Tallarico, from Cool Spot, but that has no real gameplay and requires UMAPINFO support to access. The title music is "Track 10" from Blood.
The Cognition Engine received an honorable mention at the Cacowards in 2023.

Secrets[edit]
- At the north end with three candles and a lift, take the lift up and enter the room to the west. Open the northwest wall to get a super shotgun. (sector 1081)
- In the large room east of the blue key, head under the key and go south to the green armor. Open the west wall to find a teleporter leading to a rocket launcher, rockets, and the first memory log. (sector 1119)
- In the central area, head to the north side and find a wall with a pentagram written on it to the north. Open it to find a megaarmor. (sector 1116)
- Head to the westernmost end of the map and go through a bloodfall to the north with a dead marine in front of it. Take the teleporter to get an energy cell, a plasma gun, and the second memory log. (sector 1087)
- Head towards the hellgrowth steps in the central area and go to a dead cacodemon corpse. Behind it is a switch on the block. This lowers the soul sphere to the north. (sector 1099)
- In the area with the chainsaw, get on the west window, look southwest, and shoot a switch you see. This opens the teleporter to the east, which leads to a computer area map and the third memory log. (sector 1101)
- Run northwest from the red skull door and out the window, landing on a block where you can get a box of rockets. (sector 1056)
- Enter the building south of the central area and get to the south wall using the steps. Open the wall underneath the upright hanging body to find an energy cell, a backpack, and a box of rockets. (sector 1107)
- In the room with the yellow door, jump onto the platform with boxes of ammo and jump south through the window to make a block with energy cells lower. (sector 771)
- After lowering the monster alcoves in the north area, head to the north end, then east and north to a teleporter taking you to a megasphere and the fourth memory log. (sector 1103)
- Open the red door and head west, then open a wall to the north with a dead marine in front of it. Take the teleporter to find a BFG9000 and the final memory log. If you pressed the switches in all five memory logs, you can head behind Romero's head at the end of the level and take a lift to the secret ending. (sector 1113)
