Synopsis

With the vice-presidential election imminent, BJD and BRS are expected to abstain, aiming to maintain neutrality between the NDA and INDIA bloc. YSRCP has declared its support for NDA nominee CP Radhakrishnan, giving him a significant lead over Opposition candidate B Sudarshan Reddy. The final decision from BJD and BRS leadership is pending, but abstention seems likely.

With just a day left for the vice-presidential election, two fence-sitters - BJD and BRS - are likely to abstain as they want to maintain equidistance from both the BJP-led NDA and the Opposition's INDIA bloc.

Another non-NDA and non-INDIA block party, YSRCP has declared its support to NDA nominee CP Radhakrishnan. Party MP Ayodhya Rami Reddy confirmed this to ET.

NDA nominee CP Radhakrishnan has a comfortable lead over the joint Opposition candidate, former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy. The NDA nominee enjoys the support of 439 MPs compared to 324 MPs supporting the INDIA bloc nominee.

Sources in BJD and BRS said their party's respective top leadership will take a call on the poll. But, at present, they feel abstaining from voting would be a more appropriate option.
