Market share
[edit]What is the market share of the various proprietary and open source distributions, for e.g. the server, desktop, and other (high-end computing?) markets? -- Beland (talk) 15:44, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- This info is still missing from the article, other than saying Unixes overall had 90% share for supercomputers. It would also be interesting to know how this changed over time. -- Beland (talk) 01:38, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
Shouldn't the name be capitalized?
[edit]The name UNIX in this article is not always capitalized for some reason, although it's an acronym, and it says so in the article. The capitalization almost seems random, is there a reason for this, or is it just an error that needs to be fixed? Josh Backflip (talk) 13:37, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Timeline errors?
[edit]Many of the dates in the Internet history timeline are incorrect, showing as 2025. At least one of the entries is not formatted correctly and appears as text, presumably due to a missing bracket. Also, a lot of the articles linked, especially towards the bottom, appear to not be incredibly important to Internet history, and probably should not be in this timeline. 108.31.15.9 (talk) 01:36, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
the Internet history timeline
That comes from a template, Template:Internet history timeline; that data isn't in this article, this article just includes the template, so this isn't the right place to complain about it, and he only fix that could be made here would be to change this page not to include the template, but that wouldn't affect the template or any other pages that include the template. If you want that template fixed, ask on Template talk:Internet history timeline. Guy Harris (talk) 05:33, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Internet history timeline
[edit]We need to remove the internet history timeline block of text, what has it to do with Unix ?, also it make dificult to read the articule in phones. Nys793 (talk) 07:07, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- Done. UNIX and the internet are deeply intertwined, but the timeline isn't necessary to this article. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 21:30, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
