Hi, I'd like to set up a catalan wikivoyage.org. Is it possible? If so, how can I do it?

Thank you!!

See Project:Expeditions. You'll need to find five fellow travellers to get it started. (WT-en) Jpatokal 21:36, 7 Aug 2005 (EDT)

Policy pages

[edit]

An anonymous user created Project:Abbreviations apparently without any prior discussion, whence it's being voted for deletion right now. (WT-en) Ryan thinks those pages should normally be "created in response to some need for clarification", and I agree with him. I also think that a note on starting policy pages should be placed on this project page too, for clarity. What do you guys think? (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 10:01, 23 March 2006 (EST)

Using input boxes for new pages

[edit]

So, talking with Mark on IRC, I realized that we've got infrastructure already in place to make it easy to start new pages. I'm going to experiment a bit with using inputboxes and article templates to make creating a new page easier. See Project:Start a new guide. --(WT-en) Evan 08:55, 21 February 2007 (EST)

page creation error with visual editor

[edit]
Swept in from the pub

Not sure of the cause of the problem but there is an error with creating pages in visual edit (not wiki source) mode. Change to visual editor, if you are not using it, create a new park article then change back to wiki source mode and look at the page in edit. It is not adding template for pagebanner but some code of page banner. Anyone know where the error is? --Traveler100 (talk) 19:34, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure. Is it an issue a user can fix after s/he has created a page? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 14:00, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
This problem still exists. Difficult for a new contributor to understand how to edit in wiki source mode. At the moment I am editing new articles to fix the problem. --Traveler100 (talk) 13:10, 8 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
True. Let us know how things are as the issue progresses. If this is still a problem in a few days, we definitely need to take some action. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:34, 8 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Is Honiton a good example of the kind of issue you're facing? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:41, 8 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes and Zakouma National Park would be another example. Try yourself, create a page with test name (you have the right to delete a test page later) while in visual editor mode, then switch to wiki source editor mode and look at the page in edit. --Traveler100 (talk) 13:53, 8 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

The directions on this page aren't specific enough

[edit]

I'm sick of repeatedly typing up detailed instructions for how to create new pages. Is there any good reason not to provide full instructions on this page? My suggestion is always to type the relevant place name into the search window, then if the results show no article, click "Create an article about x in this wiki" and then choose the relevant empty template and start writing. This is all by memory because I'm writing on my cellphone while waiting for a plane to finish undergoing some hopefully quick maintenance tests and take off. Your thoughts, everyone? I agree. For example, the instructions given in Wikivoyage:Travellers'_pub#Wikidata should live here (or somewhere close); it took me a long time to figure out that kind of stuff on my own. Gerode (talk) 20:15, 19 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Any objections, anyone? Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:36, 26 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Late, but no objections from me. //shb (t | c | m) 06:42, 26 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I just tried using this method by searching for "Zx" in Safari on my iPhone, and I was offered no option to create an article about it. What is the easiest way to start an article on an iPhone? Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:27, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
