Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The quiz app currently only supports 17 languages (el, en, es, fa, fr, hi, id, it, ja, ko, ms, nl, pt-BR, ta, zh_cn, zh_tw), while the main curriculum supports 54 languages via automated translations.
This creates an inconsistent experience for international learners who can access lessons in their native language but cannot take quizzes in that same language. For example:
- A Spanish learner can read lessons in Spanish but must take quizzes in English
- A German learner accesses translated curriculum but sees English quiz interface
- 37 languages have no quiz support at all
This limits accessibility and reduces engagement for non-English speaking learners, particularly in regions like Asia, Europe, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add translations for the remaining 37 languages to match the main curriculum's language coverage:
Missing languages: ar, bg, bn, br, cs, da, de, et, fi, he, hk, hr, hu, kn, lt, ml, mo, mr, my, ne, no, pa, pcm, pl, pt, ro, ru, sk, sl, sr, sv, sw, te, th, tl, tr, uk, ur, vi
Suggested approach:
- Use the existing automated translation workflow (co-op-translator) that powers the main curriculum
- Create new JSON translation files in
quiz-app/src/assets/translations/ - Register translations in
quiz-app/src/assets/translations/index.js - Follow the existing JSON structure from
en.jsonas template
Describe alternatives you've considered
- Manual translation by volunteers - Could crowdsource translations from community
- Prioritize high-traffic languages first - Start with: ar, de, pt, ru, tr, vi, uk, pl (most widely used)
- Use machine translation as base - Could accelerate the process with human review
- Partner with learning platforms - Existing translations could be adapted
Additional context

Files to modify:
- Add 37 new JSON files to
quiz-app/src/assets/translations/ - Update
quiz-app/src/assets/translations/index.jsto import and register new languages - Update
quiz-app/README.mdto document all supported languages
- Add 37 new JSON files to

Would community contributors be able to help with this? I'd be happy to assist with specific language translations if the maintainers approve this approach.
