If GitHub is requiring webcam verification, it's usually because the automated system needs an additional identity check and there isn't a way to bypass it through the community. If your device doesn't have a webcam or you can't use one, try completing the verification on another device with a camera, such as a laptop or smartphone. If that's not possible, contact GitHub Education Support through your existing verification request and explain that you're unable to complete webcam verification, asking if they can offer an alternative verification method.

GitHub Student Pack verification stuck on webcam?

1. Try on mobile browser instead of desktop — webcam step often just breaks on desktop
2. If no webcam at all, submit a manual review at education.github.com/discount_requests with proof of enrollment
3. Include student ID + enrollment letter together, not just one doc higher approval rate

No public ticket for this — manual review form is the only bypass.

When GitHub forces webcam mode and won't let you upload files, here's the fix:

1. Try from your phone — Open GitHub in your phone's browser (Chrome/Safari), go through the verification process. Mobile browsers give you a proper "Upload file" option instead of forcing webcam. This is the simplest fix and works 90% of the time.
2. Switch browsers on desktop — If you want to stay on desktop, try Firefox instead of Chrome/Chromium. Firefox handles the camera vs file upload prompt differently and often shows the upload option when Chrome doesn't.
3. If the webcam is broken/unavailable — GitHub's verification is intentionally designed to require a live camera capture (for anti-abuse reasons). If you truly cannot use a webcam on any device, submit a manual review request at:
   https://education.github.com/discount_requests
   Attach your student ID + enrollment letter + fee receipt merged into one PDF, and explain in the description: "My device does not have a functional webcam. I am unable to complete camera verification. Please manually review my documents."
4. About enrollment letters (for the follow-up question from Avikjain1) — Any official document from your university that proves you're a currently enrolled student. This can be: a tuition fee receipt, an enrollment verification letter from your student portal, an offer/admission letter showing your current program, or a class schedule with your name and university logo. One document alone may not be enough — merge 2-3 different ones into a single PDF for best results.
