Hi everyone,

I applied for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, but my application was rejected on July 28, 2026. The rejection message I received is:

“We were unfortunately not able to verify your academic status. Please address the following issues and apply again.”

However, the rejection window did not list any specific issues — it was completely blank, with no bullet points or guidance on what to fix.

I have already checked the common pitfalls mentioned in the GitHub Docs and community posts:

• My GitHub billing information name matches the same student document
• The uploaded image is clear, not cropped, and not blurry
• I am not using a VPN
• Location access is enabled in my browser
• Based on other discussions, I also confirmed that my GitHub billing address matches my actual residential address, and that address is close to my school

However, I should also point out two important details that might affect verification:

1. I am a high school student. I do not have a student ID card yet. Instead, I uploaded my official admission letter (offer letter) from the high school. It clearly shows my full name, the school name, and the enrollment date (starting in the upcoming academic year).
2. My high school does not provide .edu email addresses to students, so I cannot add a school email to my GitHub account.

I understand from the GitHub Docs that manual review requests are no longer handled via support tickets, which is why I’m posting here instead of opening a support case.

Given these circumstances, I would like to ask:

1. How can I correct my application when no specific issues are shown? Should I try reapplying, or is there something else I can do?
2. During the application process, I was required to enter detailed information about my school. I provided all the details as requested, but I suspect that GitHub's database may not have had my school's information prior to my submission. Could this be a reason for this rejection? If so, how should I address that in my next application?

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked my email — it also only shows "Issues to address:" with a blank line. No details at all. Still no clue what to fix.

Quick update — I’ve resolved this.

I tried reapplying with the exact same information (no changes), and this time the system actually returned a specific error instead of a blank rejection.

So for anyone else facing the same issue: don't overthink it, just submit again. The second attempt often gives you the real reason to fix.
