Description
I have been pointed out that every distribution should use hwdata instead of directly using upstream usb.ids or pci.ids.
It happens that the upstream usb.ids has issues that have been patched in Debian in the usb.ids package:
- A mixed encoding for one record: https://sources.debian.org/src/usb.ids/2024.07.04-1/debian/patches/01-utf-8-encoding.patch/
- A few typos: https://sources.debian.org/src/usb.ids/2024.07.04-1/debian/patches/02-typos.patch/
As they concern sections that are neither USB devices nor the USB devices classes, it is not possible to submit such fixes through the web interface, and the mail robot also rejects them. Therefore, would it be possible to fix this at the hwdata level?
