Fire Diaries is my personal illustrated recounting of the 2025 Eaton Fire and its aftermath, an event which devastated our town of Altadena, CA and destroyed over 9,000 homes and structures. Living through a disaster of this magnitude forced me to reexamine nearly every aspect of daily life, from our local systems of government and emergency response management, to our environmental stewardship and public health research. Most importantly, though, the fires showed me the absolute necessity of community, empathy, and compassion in times of crisis, and the healing power of our shared stories.
