    As part of the sales module in my course, I had to complete and present a sales pitch for a chosen company to a particular segment. I decided to pick Briga Sports Clothing, a relatively new brand, owned by Gareth Britton (Ireland) as I felt there is more opportunity and room for creativity in a new brand such as Briga.
    Sports clothing has a range of target markets, therefore for this project I decided to aim the sales pitch directly at the college / university market, selling college branded clothing to college sports teams, student unions and even personalised versions for each classes.

    We had to conduct considerable research into the Irish Dancing market in order to define our target market and show that the business could be feasible. In terms of marketing we showed marketing efforts that are currently in place by our competitors and our position ass opposed to them. Many of the strategies we chose to go with were between digital and social media as we felt this was the best way to promote the product and website to this niche market. We also devised a sales plan to consider the prospect of personal selling at events and the costs that this would implicate on the business.
    As part of this project, we also had to present our findings in order to sell the idea to our lecturer.

    During this project I learned a great deal about the mindset that banking customers have towards internet banking, as well as what causes that particular mindset. Ultimately I found there to be an issue with the way in which banking institutions are marketing internet banking to their customers, they are not decisive enough. Many customers have concerns about the experience that I found to be untrue through interviews with banking officials.

    Student Union, Institute of Technology Sligo

    I was appointed as class representative in my final year at undergraduate level. This required me to attend various meetings, talks and events where I had to voice the opinions of the class. The course was under an academic review during this year in order to better equip students and as part of this I had to attend meetings with department heads, lecturers and other fourth year representatives to discuss any issues we had as well as any suggestions for the future.
