Attendees

[edit]

Add your name to this list if you can make it to our eighth meeting. People of all ages and all Wikimedia projects (including people who are just curious) are welcome! There's no need to stay all day if you're busy—you can stay for as long or as little as you like.

Please also invite any Brighton or Sussex Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) – spread the word! Spouses/partners and +1s are welcome.

Agenda

[edit]

Informal chitchat with no set agenda. We may go for a walk or visit a museum or similar after lunch. You can email Harry or Matt (Hassocks5489) if you're arriving later and want to know where we are.

If you have some ideas for discussion topics, please put them below.

  • Is there any enthusiasm for regular meetups or more structured events in Brighton? Would people like to see meetups or events elsewhere?
  • Local articles that could be written or improved. Brighton has plenty of interesting architecture and lots of potential good or featured articles.
  • police museum is now somewhat open https://www.oldpolicecellsmuseum.com/tours/tour-museum

About the meet up

[edit]
The Bright Helm pub.

A social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts, where

  • Some of us will drink beer, some will have soft drinks. Some might have lunch.
  • We chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy
  • We might go for a walk (weather dependent!) and look at notable local features or move to another pub. Last time we went to the Royal Pavilion.

Mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians but this is also an open invitation to anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Feel free to join us for as long or as little as you like.

Look for Wikipedia-themed hoodies or t-shirts. You can email Harry or Matt (Hassocks5489) if you're not sure.

Location and accessibility

[edit]

The Bright Helm (Q88915773) is a Wetherspoons pub on West Street, between the railway station and the seafront. The station is just under ten minutes' walk away. West Street is served by many buses heading for the station; many other buses stop within walking distance. There is a multi-storey car park next door. Wifi and food are available in the pub.

We normally sit upstairs near Table 78 (if available) where it's a bit quieter but if steps are a problem for you, just say and we will make sure we get a table downstairs. There is step-free access to the pub itself. Feel free to reach out or use the talk page if you have any questions.
