Malek Ali berkongsi kandungan iniWhen good guys try to do good, they often face entrenched interests. Prosecution is based on the flimsiest set of issues: Chromebooks for Nadiem Makarim, Gojek co-founder and former Indonesian Education minister, Arm chips for Rafizi Ramli, former Malaysian Economy minister.Malek Ali berkongsi kandungan iniIbrahim Arief, known as Ibam, was sentenced on Tuesday to four years in prison in relation to the Chromebook case. When handing down the sentence, the judge explicitly noted there was no evidence that Ibam enriched himself or acted with criminal intent. Two of the five judges protested the decision and said Ibam should be free. He was convicted anyway. This is madness, pure and simple. Ibam was a tech consultant for the ministry and former VP of engineering at Bukalapak. He has stated that before his arrest, he was threatened and told to say I ordered him to choose Chrome OS — but he refused to lie, because there was no such order. Three weeks later he was arrested. My heart goes to Ibam and his family. He represents the very best of Indonesia. His dignity, strength of purpose and character have been an inspiration to me and many people in the country. Then on Wednesday, prosecutors recommended I receive 18 years in jail, and an additional 9 years if I do not pay the state around $320 million in fines and restitution. 27 years in total. More than a murderer or a terrorist gets. The payment demanded is three times the alleged state loss. Yes, this is actually happening. The Rp 809 billion they claimed was personal enrichment was an internal transaction between two GoTo companies — nothing to do with me, Google, or the ministry. Not a single rupiah moved out of GoTo's account into mine. This has been proven with corporate transfer documents. The false accusation made it into the final charges anyway. The total amount they are asking for is $320 million — multiples of what I have, and they know this. They took a number from my self-reported tax filing in 2022 — the year GoTo went public, when the share price momentarily spiked to Rp 300 and I was prohibited from selling under OJK regulations — and used it as evidence of corruption simply because it occurred while I was a minister. That number was gone the following year when the price dropped to Rp 70–80 and I could finally sell. I am being charged based on a number that never reflected real wealth, with no connection to this case. These were shares I received in 2015 when founding PT AKAB — five years before I became minister. Yes, this is actually happening too. Why? Because prosecutors failed to find a single trace of funds flowing to me from Chromebook vendors, Google, GoTo, or PTGI. Nothing. Without a personal enrichment clause they have no motive. So they turned to my tax filings instead. I feel a lot of anger and a lot of sadness at the way this is playing out. But I'm going to continue to fight. As I have said before, I still believe Indonesia and its legal system will do the right thing in the end. As always, thank you for your support. Nadiem

Malek Ali berkongsi kandungan iniLaunch, Fail, Repeat The Madani government recently launched Madani Mart., a no-frills, low priced provisions stores to cater to low income Malaysians. Enterprising Malaysians were invited to become proprietors of these new stores. Does the low price provision shop idea sound familiar? Yes, Najib launched Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia (Citizens Shop 1 Malaysia) a decade or so ago. The chain was operated by retail entrepreneur Datuk wira ameer Mydin. So, did the current Madani government asked Ameer about his experience in launching and operating KR1M shops? Did they ask him about mistakes that he had made that caused him to lose RM185 million? Did they ask him about lessons that he learned that can be applied to the new Madani Mart? Nope. Yes, this is a classic top down decision by politicians who never worked in the private sector, or started a business or struggled to launch a retail store. They never learn to ask for advice from those who have been there, and done that. Hence, successive Malaysian governments' endless cycle of Launch, Fail, Repeat. #madanimart #kr1m #madani https://lnkd.in/e4bjChPeMalek Ali berkongsi kandungan ini📍🟡 The government launched its first Madani Mart in April, with the aim to make daily necessities more affordable for the public. Some experts and netizens believe that Madani Mart is a version of Najib administration’s Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia that was eventually halted in 2017 after suffering years of losses. Malek Ali berkongsi kandungan iniGreat work by the BFM 89.9 - The Business Station team recapping the off-beat moments of the ASEAN summit (and before commenting that we got the name of the Indonesian president wrong, we were just highlighting the original clip as it became one of the issues (actually 3 issues) of the summit). 😇Malek Ali berkongsi kandungan ini📍🟡 Key highlights from the 47th ASEAN Summit include: 📌 Timor-Leste officially became ASEAN's 11th member following the signing of the Declaration of Accession, marking the bloc's first expansion since Cambodia joined in 1999. 📌 Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul signed an expanded ceasefire agreement, dubbed the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, marking an important step towards the peaceful resolution of the border dispute. The agreement includes the cessation of all hostilities and the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers. 📌 ASEAN member states signed an upgraded ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) that will strengthen regional trade, the role of MSMEs, promote more environmentally-conscious trade practices, and more. 📌 Malaysia is set to hand over the ASEAN Chairmanship to the Philippines when the summit concludes on Tuesday (28 Oct). 📌 In other news, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and US President Donald Trump have signed a new reciprocal trade agreement that grants Malaysia better access to the US market without altering previous commitments between the two nations. 📌 Under the pact, 1,711 tariff lines covering key commodities such as palm oil, cocoa, rubber, and pharmaceuticals are exempted from the 19% tariff on Malaysian goods entering the US. Meanwhile, Malaysia has agreed not to ban or impose quotas on exports of critical minerals or rare earth elements to the US. 🎙 Listen to BFM's coverage of the ASEAN Summit on the BFM website, BFM app, Spotify and Apple Podcast. #BeyondFunnyMoments #ASEANSummit #Politics #Diplomacy #ASEAN

Malek Ali berkongsi kandungan ini𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝘆? The protracted process for the recent appointment of our new Chief Justice has truly underscored a critical, systemic issue in Malaysia: the chronic lack of succession planning by our policymakers. ragunath kesavan aptly summarised the the democratic dangers of the lack of proper judicial succession on BFM 89.9 - The Business Station) in the podcast below: https://lnkd.in/g64ufW8W Beyond at least 30 judicial positions vacant across our courts as highlighted by Ragunath, this problem goes beyond judicial appointments. We've seen similar delays this year in the appointment of the latest Director General of Education, impacting the long-term strategic direction of our nation's schooling. My own experience with a court case postponed due to the presiding chairman not knowing whether her contract would be renewed, even up to her very last day, is a stark example of the real-world impact. No new court dates can be arranged until her tenure was renewed so we all twiddled thumbs for months whilst we wait for the resolution of this eminently avoidable uncertainty. And what about national political leadership? While we have a clear Prime Minister in DSAI, the question of a robust succession plan at the very top of government remains unaddressed (and remains more so after recent events). For corporates, not having a succession plan is seen as a governance "deadly sin". The same should apply for any institution. Effective succession planning isn't just about filling vacancies; it's about ensuring continuity, stability, and the long-term health of our nation's institutions. It's time for our policymakers to prioritize this fundamental aspect of good governance across all sectors. #SuccessionPlanning #Judiciary #Governance #Malaysia

Malek Ali memberikan reaksi pada kandungan iniMalek Ali memberikan reaksi pada kandungan ini📍🟡 On 15 June 2026, Sivakumar Muniandy and the 98 longhouse families finally received the news they had waited 44 years to hear. For more than four decades, generations of residents held on to the promise of permanent housing, and many passed away without seeing it become a reality. Now, through a partnership between the local government and a property developer, each family has been promised two condominium units at no cost. The government has also allocated RM1 million to cover maintenance fees for the first three years. But their journey is not over yet. The developer estimates that construction will take another three years to complete. Until then, we will continue to follow their story and document any challenges these longhouse families face as they move towards the finish line and, ultimately, receive the keys to their new homes. Behind every disappointment we have as Indonesian citizens, behind every cry for justice, lies a subtle inner voice that underlies that criticism. All criticism comes from concern, and all concern comes from love. We cry out for justice because the people still love this country. I still love this country." Nadiem shared his closing statement at court yesterday as a response to the prosecution's ridiculous charges of up to 27.5 years despite the lack of any evidence. I penned down my observations of the day and this time it had to be a LinkedIN article instead of a post as it was too long. Please take some time to read, like, share and subscribe!

Malek Ali memberikan reaksi pada kandungan iniMalek Ali memberikan reaksi pada kandungan iniFriends and politics 1. I read with sadness about Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad's resignation. 2. This post is about Nik Nazmi. I have known Nik since my first nomination in 2008. We both contested in the state seats under the Kelana Jaya parliamentary constituency. We were both tiny in size and experience. We both won in that watershed general elections that changed Selangor and Malaysian politics. 3. Over the years, we both grew together. When I was elected Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, Nik became my Deputy. He convinced me to introduce ADUN Muda Selangor advocacy program for young students. 4. We were both sent for various Commonwealth leadership programs in UK and Australia. We spoke in many forums and interviews together. Our firstborns are of similar age. When I was pregnant with my first child in my very first trimester, I happened to be attending a leadership course in London with Nik. I had craving for kangkung belacan and Nik walked with me to look for the Malaysian restaurant serving that dish. 5. When my book Becoming Hannah became the subject of defamation by irresponsible personalities, Nik defended me and my book. He also testified in court for me. 5. We both left our state seats after serving in Selangor for 10 years. We contested in Kuala Lumpur in 2018 and elected as MPs. We both fought to preserve Taman Rimba Kiara and Bukit Dinding respectively in our constituencies. 6. In 2022, both of us were appointed into Anwar Ibrahim's Cabinet. He was a good Minister. Naturally, I was sad about both his resignations as Minister and now as MP Setiawangsa. 7. Over the 18 years in politics, I have experienced similar sadness when close friends in politics leave a coalition or political cooperation and form new ones - Syed Saddiq, Amira Aisya (MUDA), Shafie Apdal, Darell Leiking, Mohd Azis Bin Jamman (Warisan) and now Rafizi Ramli and Nik (Bersama). I wish them well. 8. When we contest in elections, we play by the rules and fight honorably. There will be winners and losers. Malaysian politics have evolved over the last 2 decades. Just because our logos are no longer featured together on political stages or t-shirts, it does not mean we write each other off and become nasty to each other. Supporters from all camps and younger players must understand this. Fight on issues and don't go personal. Remain professional and rise above the desire to tear each other down. I believe many politicians want a Malaysia that is free from corruption and race-based politics. We are after a nation that is better to be handed down to the younger generations. 9. After all the flags come down and rallies end, kindness and friendship remain. In politics, know your real enemies. There is no point in winning a battle but losing the war. Malaysia deserves the best of political leadership, both in government and opposition. 10. May God bless our efforts.
