Accelerating affordability efforts across Europe With many people continuing to face pressure from higher living costs, IKEA is taking a significant step to lowering prices across Europe. Starting on 1 September, customers in the region will benefit from price reductions of up to 25% on a wide range of selected products. As part of a mutual effort to make IKEA products more affordable, Inter IKEA Group is reducing its purchasing prices for IKEA franchisees in Europe, while IKEA retailers across the region are making additional investments to lower prices. Together, these measures represent a total investment of approximately EUR 1.2 billion in lower prices for IKEA customers. Each piece was designed by one designer from each team, with XBOX bringing 25 years of understanding how people game and what players need from their setup, and us with over 80 years of life-at-home expertise. Behind the modern and minimalist ASPUDDEN kitchen fronts lies a secret recipe. We’re always looking for smart, efficient ways to use wood. While we have been using medium-density fibreboard (MDF) for our kitchen fronts, there is still room to improve our use of raw materials. That made us think: how could we make our kitchen fronts even better in terms of design, quality, and value? Together with the IKEA Test and Development lab in Älmhult and our long-time supplier 3B S.p.A. in Italy, we took up the challenge and began exploring the benefits of particleboard as an alternative to MDF when developing the new ASPUDDEN kitchen series. With sustainability at the heart of the project, the use of recycled materials was a top priority. For the ASPUDDEN series, 3B uses particleboard made from 100% recycled wood content. Particleboard has a lower CO2 impact compared to MDF, and by using more particleboard and less MDF, we achieved a substantial reduction in the product's overall carbon emissions **. The plastic foil is also made from minimum 80% recycled PET. **Product emission reduction is based on 3B's internal cradle-to-gate validation, which is not third-party certified. Deze 51 toonaangevende werkgevers binnen de Tent Nederland coalitie laten zien dat het aannemen van vluchtelingen verder gaat dan maatschappelijke betrokkenheid, het biedt ook een concrete oplossing voor de personeelstekorten waar veel sectoren mee kampen. Deze resultaten zijn alleen mogelijk dankzij de inzet van onze bedrijven én de intensieve samenwerking met gemeenten, maatschappelijke organisaties en andere partners die zich dagelijks inzetten om werkgevers en vluchtelingtalent met elkaar te verbinden. Life in transit Say hej to our latest collection, #KOMPISHÄNG, made for a growing generation of young city dwellers who see moving as a seasonal constant, not a one-off event. To create this collection, we visited young adults to see how they lived, and we saw the same patterns: improvised storage, double-duty furniture, and a small number of carefully curated keepsakes carried from one rental to the next. Developed around this reality, KOMPISHÄNG is made from materials like solid pine, powder-coated steel and durable canvas, allowing them to be packed, carried and set up again, ready to turn any space into a home, no matter where life takes you. A new global research lab to support restoring the world’s rainforests 🌱   Over 25 years ago, IKEA, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and the Sabah Foundation set out to restore a heavily degraded rainforest in Borneo. Since then, 18,500 hectares, an area larger than Paris, have been restored and protected. Today, we’re taking the next step. Introducing the Living Rainforest Restoration Lab, a new phase of the Sow a Seed initiative. Building on decades of hands-on restoration, the focus now shifts towards research, collaboration, and knowledge sharing to help accelerate rainforest restoration globally. Through this initiative: • 24 research projects will be conducted in collaboration with SLU and Malaysian universities • IKEA will fund the programme over the next 10 years • Insights from Borneo will support biodiversity conservation and climate action worldwide The restored forest is already showing what’s possible, bringing back biodiverse wildlife, including orangutans, pygmy elephants and hornbills. As our Chief Sustainability Officer Lena Julle shares:  “Sow a Seed shows what is possible: degraded rainforests can recover. With the Living Rainforest Restoration Lab, we want to share these insights so they can guide restoration efforts around the world.” Together with our partners, we aim to turn knowledge into action to support the restoration of rainforests at scale.
