This year, we returned with two teams. Here’s how they did: 🔥 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀: 9th place (27th overall) ⚡ 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿𝘀: 266th place (456th overall) Thank you to everyone who organized, ran, and cheered us on. See you next year! Bartłomiej Rosa polecił(a) toEveryone uses @property to spin a gradient. Almost nobody uses it for the thing that actually matters. Custom properties inherit. Always. Set --padding on a card and every descendant inherits it, including the nested card that was supposed to have its own. That's why component libraries end up with --my-lib-card-padding everywhere. The prefix isn't naming discipline. It's collision avoidance for a variable that leaks into the entire subtree. @property is the only way to turn inheritance off: inherits: false; Now the property is scoped to the elements you set it on. Nested instances don't get it by accident. Descendants that happen to use the same name don't get poisoned. The second half of the same rule is initial-value. A registered property with an invalid value doesn't break the declaration. It falls back to the initial value at computed-value time, so --padding: banana renders your default instead of collapsing the layout. If you accept values from consumers, that's real robustness you can't get any other way. Both descriptors are required, along with syntax. Get one wrong and the whole rule is dropped silently. One constraint worth knowing: initial-value has to be computationally independent. No em, no %, no var(). Absolute values only. Baseline since 2024. Chrome 85, Safari 16.4, Firefox 128. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gZweav8x We've all been there - right-clicking to save a simple JPEG or PNG, only to end up with a format that your apps don't support well. It's a modern web problem. Introducing SaveImageAs, a Chrome extension I created to give you back control. With a single right-click on any image, you can choose to save it instantly as JPEG, PNG, or WebP. With a single right-click on any image, you can choose to save it instantly as JPEG, PNG or WebP. Here’s why it’s a game-changer for your workflow: 🧠 It finds the BEST version: Most modern websites serve downscaled, re-compressed versions to your browser. SaveImageAs is smarter: it searches the page’s srcset or intelligently strips URL parameters from providers like Cloudinary to find and convert the high-quality original upload if available. 🔒 Truly Local & Private: The entire conversion process runs right on your own computer. There are no accounts to create, nothing is uploaded, and no servers are involved. Your privacy is paramount. ⚙️ Genuine re-encoding rather than just renaming: Many "converters" are just lazy and change the file extension. SaveImageAs uses a true fetch → decode → raster → re-encode pipeline. It even verifies the resulting byte-level magic numbers to ensure a .webp file is actually WebP data, avoiding Chrome's silent PNG fallback trap. Saves you from the inevitable detour to a web-based file converter or image editor. Stop letting the web dictate your file formats. I hope that SaveImageAs helps make a difference :) #programming #softwareengineering #webdevelopment

Bartłomiej Rosa polecił(a) toContainer Style Queries take container queries a step further. Instead of asking how large a container is, CSS can respond to a custom property set on the container. This lets a component change its appearance based on the context it's placed in, without adding classes to the component or using JavaScript. It's a powerful pattern for design systems and reusable components. Container Style Queries became interoperable across Chrome, Safari, and Firefox in 2026 and are included in Interop 2026. W naszym artykule wymieniamy też te firmy, które przyznały się, że z Chat Control korzystały w przeszłości. Czy teraz znów będą? To dobre pytanie! Pełna lista firm tutaj: https://lnkd.in/dgWvRcAH

Bartłomiej Rosa zareagował(a) na toBartłomiej Rosa zareagował(a) na toFor most of my career as a CTO, I learned the same lesson over and over: building the product is rarely the hard part. Getting it to actually run inside a real enterprise — legacy systems, siloed data, stakeholders who each define success differently — is where most AI projects quietly stall. That's the problem I'm joining Wonderful to solve. I’m excited to share that I've joined Wonderful as a Forward Deployed Engineer! ✨ Wonderful builds conversational and back-office AI agents for enterprise — Conversational agents that work across voice, chat, and email, genuinely understand local language, culture, and context, and don't break down the moment they leave a demo. The same platform also powers Back-office agents that reach into internal systems to automate real work across operational workflows. The FDE role sits exactly where I want to be: embedded with customers, owning the outcome end-to-end, from first principles through to production. High stakes, loose instructions, no playbook — with a real platform and team behind you. After years leading engineering orgs, I'm deliberately moving closer to the work and the customer, not further from it. I'm here to ship AI that survives contact with the real world. Thank you to the Wonderful team, especially Pawel Osterreicher, Roey Lalazar, Boaz Francis and the team for the warm welcome! Now the fun begins. Let’s go. We're expanding and looking for talented engineers to join us. If that sounds like you, feel free to reach out! 🚀

Bartłomiej Rosa zareagował(a) na toBartłomiej Rosa zareagował(a) na toMy daughter is autistic and lives independently at university. She described the feeling of not knowing what to do when things go wrong as being "frozen." That word stayed with me. So I built something. Today, Unfrozen Now is live on the App Store. It's a process navigation platform — trusted people build step-by-step guides in advance, and when someone is frozen, they open the app, type anything, and it finds the right path forward. Calmly. Clearly. Built solo, with clinical input from my wife — a learning disability nurse . Tested by my daughter before it was even finished. We're looking to connect with: → SEND schools and specialist colleges → Occupational therapists and support workers → NHS trusts and local authorities → Families supporting neurodivergent loved ones If this is relevant to your work, I'd love to connect. unfrozennow.com 💙 #AssistiveTechnology #Autism #SEND #Neurodiversity #HealthTech #UnfrozenNow
