I just couldn’t use them… After a full day of driving from Spain towards Poland, I had a simple plan: arrive at the hotel late, plug in the Tesla, sleep, and leave in the morning with a full battery. That was actually the main reason I chose this hotel. I had even planned the last charging stop accordingly. I deliberately didn’t charge the Tesla all the way before the hotel, arriving with just around 10–15% battery, because I wanted to make the €30 fixed charging fee at least somewhat reasonable. For a full overnight charge, it would have been an acceptable price. The day before, I had also emailed reception to confirm: “— We’ll arrive late. Can we charge the car overnight? — Yes. — How much does it cost? — €30 for the night.” Not so cost effective, but it will save me some time tomorrow, I thought. I arrived around 11 PM after a long day on the road. And then I saw this: all four EV charging spaces were occupied. By cars that were not charging. 😠 There were other free parking spaces available, so apparently moving them would have been possible. But nobody was managing the charging spots. I asked reception what could be done. The answer was basically: “We don’t manage the parking.” 🤷♂️ The second thing that surprised me was the €30 fixed charging fee. Why a fixed fee? Why not simply charge customers based on the electricity consumed? And more importantly: in 2026, is it really so difficult for a hotel to use a proper charging point management system, with availability, reservations, access control and payment? At ECOFACTOR we already provide exactly these kinds of solutions in our CPMS. And this is what frustrates me most. After all my road trips, I still haven’t managed to charge my car at a hotel. Not once. Sometimes the chargers simply don’t work. Sometimes, like here, the spaces are occupied. And sometimes a hotel advertises “EV charging”, only for you to discover that it actually means a public charger 200 metres away, on an unsecured parking lot. Hotels are clearly becoming part of the EV charging ecosystem. But installing a charger is only the first 10% of the job. The other 90% is making sure a guest can actually use it when they need it. So, EV drivers community: have you actually managed to charge at any hotel, or is “EV charging available” just another hotel promise that doesn’t quite work in practice?

Spain → France → Germany → Poland. Another chance to experience Europe’s EV charging infrastructure in real life, across different countries, networks and use cases. A busy, highly visible parking area. And still, 11 charging cables were cut from brand-new charging stations. Cable theft is becoming a serious problem for public EV charging infrastructure. The cost goes far beyond replacing the cable: chargers go offline, drivers are frustrated, maintenance teams are dispatched, and operators lose revenue and trust. I’m curious: what solutions are CPOs, site owners and hardware manufacturers actually implementing to prevent this? Better surveillance? Tamper detection? Cable tracking? Physical protection? Real-time alerts? Alarm systems? Would love to hear what’s currently being deployed or tested in the field. What is actually working, and what are you trying next?

Last week, I shared my experiment on reducing cabin temperatures in my Tesla while parked under the Spanish sun. The response exceeded my expectations. EV owners from Spain, USA, Australia, Austria, and many other regions shared the same experience: overheating is a real challenge, especially for vehicles with large glass roofs. That discussion made me ask a different question: What if, instead of simply blocking the sun, we could actually use it? For some time, I've been researching existing solar-powered solutions for parked EVs. Some focus on creating shade, others generate electricity for low-power systems, ventilation, or even battery charging. So far, I've found several interesting approaches - from commercial products to custom-built prototypes. But, the more I research this space, the more I feel there's still room for a better solution. One question for the EV community: What's actually stopping OEMs from building this in - cost, weight, aerodynamics, or just no proven demand? And if you've used any solar setup on a parked EV, what broke first? I'm still mapping this space and considering what a better version could look like. If you've tested one of these or built your own, I'd genuinely like to hear what held up and what didn't.

Maksym Riznychenko udostępnił(a) toHow do you deal with an overheating car cabin during hot summer days? ☀️🚗 One thing I’ve noticed after spending time in southern Spain is just how quickly a Tesla can turn into a greenhouse. Most Tesla models come with a full glass roof, and while it looks fantastic, combining it with a black interior creates a significant greenhouse effect. Even with cabin overheat protection enabled, the interior temperature can easily exceed 55°C (131°F) after just a few hours in the sun. I recently ran a simple comparison: ➡️ Without a reflective sun cover: Interior reached 55°C. ➡️ With a reflective sun cover: Interior stayed around 37°C under similar conditions. A difference of 18°C (32°F) is substantial - not only for comfort but also for protecting the interior electronics. If you live or travel in hot climates like Spain, Italy, Greece, or southern France, a quality reflective cover is a surprisingly effective investment. It helps: * Reduce the greenhouse effect created by the glass roof. * Protect the dashboard, display, and interior materials from prolonged heat exposure. * Reduce the need for Cabin Overheat Protection or continuous A/C operation, which can consume a noticeable amount of battery over the course of the day. For me, it’s now an essential accessory whenever I know the car will be parked in direct sunlight for several hours. What solutions do you use to keep your EV cool during summer? Maksym Riznychenko udostępnił(a) toEV trip Poland 🇵🇱 - Spain 🇪🇸 Last week I completed another long-distance EV road trip ~2,500 km from Wrocław, Poland to Gandía, Spain in my Tesla Model 3 LR. This wasn’t just a vacation drive. It was an opportunity to repeat the same journey I made last year, but with much more experience, different habits, and a set of new hypotheses I wanted to test. Over the past year I’ve changed the way I plan charging stops, optimize travel time, choose routes, and balance comfort with efficiency. Some assumptions proved right. Others were completely wrong. So, it made me wonder… Is there still interest in real-world long-distance EV travel across Europe, or has this already become “common knowledge” for the LinkedIn EV community? If enough people are interested, I’ll prepare: - a series of practical posts, - a detailed article, - and share the lessons learned, mistakes, costs, charging strategy, route planning, apps, and a collection of travel hacks that made this trip significantly easier than the previous one. Maksym Riznychenko polecił(a) toMaksym Riznychenko polecił(a) toMCS charging site outside of Berlin Update: In operation now One month ago I reported about this Shell MCS site under construction (please find the link of the previous post in the comments) Now it seems to be in operation A clean and nice truck charging site with 2 MCS + 2 CCS charging options Perfectly based in a commercial district with lots of logistic companies around Some details catched my attention: Each parking bay is equipped with a CCS and a separate MCS dispenser The CCS display shows: Adhoc pricing 0,79 Euro So far so good (lets not talk about pricing) … The MCS display shows: Tarif for bank cards: 0.00 €/kWh On the MCS dispenser was a sticker with following “Hinweis” text: „Charging is available only for project partners. Public charging is not possible.“ This “Hinweis” is missing on the CCS dispenser next to it ... Does anybody understand/know why the MCS is reserved only for project partners? Does it mean that anyone can charge on CCS but not on MCS next to it? (I didn’t try CCS with my EV because parking was only allowed for trucks) I thought CPOs want to sell as much electricity as possible to anybody … ? This launch makes Ubitricity the first charge point operator globally to deploy this charging technology at scale. With Charging Profiles, the MSP sends optimised schedules based on driver preferences directly to the charge point for execution with no vehicle API required. The charge point manages the session, so the CPO retains full control over it on their infrastructure. 🇵🇱 EV uptake in Poland is at a historic high. The ICCT’s latest market monitor looks at the surge in EV uptake in Poland in 2025. From January to October, battery electric vehicle registrations more than doubled compared with the same period in 2024, reaching a 6% market share. Poland’s BEV market share now outranks Italy and Czechia. What’s driving this rapid uptake? EV drivers are taking advantage of new financial incentives while charger availability is quickly improving. With these new incentives, drivers purchasing, renting, or leasing EVs can benefit from a discount of around €7,000, with more bonuses available for families with at least three children or those scrapping older combustion engine vehicles. Along with this bonus scheme, Poland had an 83% increase in public and semi-public fast chargers compared with October 2024. Poland’s progress offers valuable lessons for scaling EV adoption across Europe. TWS is setting the course for an economically sensible reorientation! What business aspects would TubeWay have? In other words: what existential tipping points fundamentally affect combustion engines and rail transport, which is still regarded as moderate? How many tonnes does a high-speed locomotive weigh in comparison? And how expensive are the lines, superstructure, locomotives and rolling stock? The new mobility from TWS creation needs pre-investments, R&D and carefully planned realisations, but once established, investors and operators could constantly generate secure profits.
