    👋 My name is Juan, and for many years I was a front-end web developer specialized in WordPress. I’m passionate about design, open source, sustainability, and the open web. Since creating my first website in 1998, I helped companies of all sizes establish their online presence.

    🚀 Now, as a WordPress Community Engagement Specialist at Weglot, I help organize events, boost brand awareness, and support volunteers through the WordPress Five for the Future initiative. Weglot also sponsors me for 24 hours a week so that I can contribute to the Community team.

    🙋🏻‍♂️ I’ve had the privilege of serving as a team lead at WordCamp Europe in 2022 and 2023, and as the lead organizer in WCEU 2024 in Torino. Also, mentoring WCEU 2025 and 2026. I also co-organize meetups and WordCamps in Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, and work as a Program Manager at the WordPress Global Community Team. One of my greatest passions is mentoring and involving new people in different projects and events, as I believe in the power of community growth.

    WordPress Origin Story

    🥰 My journey with WordPress began at the end of 2008 when I was testing tools to create my blog. Since then, I’ve been deeply involved with the platform. In 2011, I established my own web design and development company, Vertixe, and for many years, I collaborated with designers and design agencies, turning their ideas into WordPress themes for a diverse range of clients.

    🎟️ I met the community almost by chance in November 2015 at WordCamp Cantabria and have gradually become an active member. Since then, I started organizing the Pontevedra meetup, led the 2018 and 2019 local WordCamps, and helped in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 WordCamps, and also our regional WordCamp Galicia 2025. They trusted me as the Spanish language GTE for Spain.

    🗣️ I gave talks in many WordCamps and meetups about the importance of owning your content, blogs, net neutrality, and how to improve the future of the Internet. With several friends, I travelled to Berlin for my first WordCamp Europe, and I came back so fascinated that I wanted to help. Five years later, I was already one of the leaders of WCEU in Torino.

    🌟 WordPress has changed my life and introduced me to people and places I would never have imagined. My only mission is to help others experience what I have experienced thanks to this project and community.
