Synopsis

An ancient champion is freed after nearly 5,000 years and drops into the modern world with a brutal idea of justice. Back in the nation of Kahndaq, his return sparks hope for some and fear for others, especially when his power level draws the Justice Society of America into the fight. As Black Adam clashes with Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone, the question becomes whether he serves as savior or a catastrophic catalyst.

Black Adam unfortunately was not able to keep my attention or interest and it really felt like it dragged in some parts. Some of the acting was a little difficult to believe and some elements of the plot still leave me confused because they felt like they never got resolved.

It may not be the best superhero movie out there, but I really enjoyed the emotional beats, the exploration of another culture outside of the US, and the rivalry between Henry Cavill's Superman and Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam that will now never come to light.

The movie had some great action, a fun superhero team, and sweet twists around the origins of Black Adam. There were things that held it back, and certainly a lot that didn't make sense, but the movie clearly has a soul that appears to have been willed into existence by Johnson himself.

It's a generic superhero movie with The Rock doing his generic thing for most of it. Some pretty neat fight scenes. Dr. Fate is the obvious standout here. Shouldn't have killed him off. Pretty paint by the numbers. It's not terrible. It's not good either.
