Youth
Leonardo DiCaprio was born on November 11th, 1974, in Los Angeles, California, to parents Irmelin DiCaprio and George DiCaprio, an actress and producer and a comic book artist and author, respectively. DiCaprio began acting at a young age, with his parents signing him with an agent and DiCaprio beginning to take on small television roles and parts in commercials while he was still a teenager.
Education
DiCaprio initially attended John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, California. However, he eventually dropped out in order to pursue his acting career. DiCaprio would later earn his general equivalency diploma (GED), and he ultimately decided not to pursue a college degree.
Career
DiCaprio's acting career began in his youth, during which time he landed minor parts in TV shows like Parenthood and Roseanne. His break into movies came with Critters 3 in 1991, and he landed one of his more substantial early roles on Growing Pains in the same year. However, DiCaprio's true breakout role was as Romeo in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet in 1996, which was followed very quickly by one of his most iconic roles to date as Jack Dawson in James Cameron's 1997 movie Titanic.
