Terms of Service.
The terms governing your use of interfaces.inc.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Dafdef, inc., doing business as Interfaces ("Interfaces", "Company", "we", "us", or "our"). They govern your access to and use of everything we make: our software applications (including apps for iOS, macOS, and Android), our websites (including interfaces.inc and its subdomains), our developer tools, SDKs, and APIs, our AI models and agents, hardware we may offer, our data and model-training activities, and our research previews and experiments (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, joining a waitlist, downloading an app, purchasing or using hardware, using our developer tools, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
1. Scope
These Terms apply across our entire stack: software, hardware, data, AI models and agents, developer tools, and research. They are the single service-wide agreement for everything we offer. Features that collect sensitive recordings or research data may present an additional notice and consent request at the point of collection. That consent records the exact data purposes you approve, but it does not create a separate set of terms. Research previews and experiments are provided on an as-is, may-change, may-end basis as described below.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms.
Certain products, features, hardware, and research previews require you to be at least 18 years old, and any product that collects biometric data (such as face or voice recordings) requires you to be at least 18. Where a notice shown before using a feature states a higher minimum age, that requirement controls over the general 13+ eligibility above.
3. Account Registration and Security
To use the Service, you may register an account using your phone number, Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or another method we offer for a given product. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain the security of your device and account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to or use of your account
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe have been compromised, are being used fraudulently, or violate these Terms.
4. Description of Service
Interfaces builds software, models, and input systems that change how people communicate with and use AI across the devices they own. Depending on the products you use, the Service may communicate with you through apps, messaging, voice, silent speech, on-screen surfaces, and hardware devices; use artificial intelligence to process your inputs, sense relevant context, remember information across sessions, and send proactive communications; and, where you direct it, operate apps and take actions on your behalf. Available features vary by product and may include research previews that are early, incomplete, and subject to change.
5. Agents and actions taken on your behalf
Some features let the Service act as an agent: with your direction or configuration, it may operate applications, send messages, schedule or complete tasks, and take other actions on your behalf, including in the background. You are responsible for the instructions you give and for actions taken under your account, and you authorize us to carry out those actions to provide the Service. Automated agents can make mistakes; you should supervise consequential actions and can adjust, pause, or disable agentic and proactive features at any time. Do not use agents to act on accounts, systems, or data you are not authorized to control.
6. AI-Generated Content and Limitations
6.1 Nature of AI Output
The Service uses artificial intelligence models, including our own models and third-party models (including but not limited to models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and other providers), to generate responses and take actions. AI-generated content and actions may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or inappropriate despite our best efforts.
6.2 No Professional Advice
The Service is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind, including medical, legal, financial, tax, therapeutic, or emergency advice. Always consult qualified professionals for such matters.
6.3 No Guarantees of Accuracy
We do not warrant that AI-generated content will be accurate, reliable, current, or error-free. You are solely responsible for evaluating and verifying any information provided by the Service.
6.4 Proactive Communications
The Service may send you messages proactively based on your prior conversations and configured preferences. You can adjust or disable proactive features at any time.
7. Your Content, Data, and Model Training
7.1 Ownership
You retain all ownership rights in the content you submit to the Service ("Your Content"), including text messages, voice notes, images, video and camera recordings, files, sensor and device data, and any other materials.
7.2 License Grant
By using the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, process, store, reproduce, and transmit Your Content solely as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and operate the Service. This includes sending Your Content to AI providers and cloud infrastructure for processing.
7.3 Using data to train and improve models
We use data to develop, train, evaluate, and improve our AI models and the Service. Where a feature collects sensitive data (such as biometric face or voice recordings), we use that data to train or improve models only as described in our Privacy Policy and permitted by the specific consent presented before collection. For that data, your recorded consent controls over the general license in Section 7.2. You can withdraw from future model training, though training already completed cannot be undone.
7.4 Third-Party AI Processing
You acknowledge and agree that Your Content may be sent to third-party AI providers and cloud infrastructure for processing. These providers may process, temporarily store, or retain Your Content in accordance with their own terms and policies.
7.5 Responsibility for Your Content
You are solely responsible for Your Content. You represent and warrant that you have the right to submit Your Content, that you have obtained any consents required to record or submit information about other people, and that it does not violate any applicable law or third-party right.
7.6 Research previews and sensitive recordings
A research preview that collects face, mouth, or voice recordings is limited to adults aged 18 or older. You must submit only your own recordings, use your own account, and accept the data purposes presented before recording. Silent Speech currently requires consent for personalization and evaluation, model research and training, and specified product-use contributions. If you do not agree to every required purpose, do not participate.
Research previews are experimental. Models, transcripts, and AI responses may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable. Do not rely on them for emergencies, safety-critical communication, medical decisions, legal instructions, or financial transactions. Invitations are personal, limited, revocable, and do not guarantee continued access. You may stop participating and request deletion at any time, subject to the limits described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
- Infringe on the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party
- Generate harmful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content
- Generate content that exploits or harms minors
- Impersonate any person or entity

- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service or its AI models
- Use the Service to develop competing AI products or systematically extract data
- Use automated means to access the Service except as expressly permitted
- Circumvent any security, rate-limiting, or access control measures
- Share your account access with others
- Use the Service, its agents, cameras, or sensors to identify, profile, surveil, or record any person without the consent required by law
- Submit biometric data of anyone other than yourself, or attempt to build a model of another person
- Direct our agents to take actions on accounts, systems, or data you are not authorized to control
9. Developer Tools, SDKs, and APIs
If we make developer tools, SDKs, or APIs available, you may use them only in accordance with these Terms, any accompanying developer documentation, and applicable rate limits and credentials. You are responsible for anything you build with them and for the end users of your integrations, including obtaining any consents your integration requires. We may change, deprecate, or discontinue developer interfaces, and we may suspend credentials that are misused or that create risk to the Service or to users.
10. Hardware
10.1 Device Capabilities
Hardware we offer may include microphones, speakers, cameras, and other sensors designed to give the Service presence in your environment. Specific capabilities vary by device and are described at the point of sale or in device documentation.
10.2 Your Responsibilities
- Inform all individuals in your environment about the device's sensing capabilities
- Obtain any consents required by applicable law for recording audio or video
- Comply with all applicable laws regarding surveillance and recording
- Use the device only in environments where you have the legal right to install such a device
10.3 Hardware Warranty and Returns
Hardware purchases are subject to separate warranty and return terms provided at the point of sale.
10.4 Software Updates
Devices may receive automatic software updates. By using a device, you consent to receiving these updates. Some updates may modify or remove features.
11. Payments, Subscriptions, and Billing
11.1 Fees
Certain features may require payment. All fees are in U.S. dollars unless otherwise specified. We reserve the right to change fees at any time with reasonable notice.
11.2 Billing
Subscription fees are billed in advance. You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
11.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds for partial periods unless required by law.
12. Intellectual Property
12.1 Our Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, models, design, text, graphics, logos, and trademarks, is owned by or licensed to us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent, except as expressly permitted (for example, components we release under an open-source license, which are governed by that license).
12.2 Feedback
If you provide feedback or suggestions about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback for any purpose.
13. Third-Party Services
The Service may integrate with or link to third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party services. Use them at your own risk.
14. Service Availability, Research Previews, and Modifications
We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or due to circumstances beyond our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Research previews, betas, and experiments are early and may be changed, limited, or ended at any time, and may be less reliable than generally available features.
15. Termination
15.1 Termination by You
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time by contacting support@dafdef.com.
15.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if:
- You breach any provision of these Terms
- We are required to do so by law
- Your conduct creates liability or harm for us, other users, or third parties
- We discontinue the Service
15.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Data is handled per our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
16. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE. YOU ASSUME ALL RISK FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED CONTENT.
17. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DAFDEF, INC. D/B/A INTERFACES AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO YOUR DATA, CONDUCT OF THIRD PARTIES, OR AI-GENERATED CONTENT. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dafdef, inc. d/b/a Interfaces and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) Your Content; (c) your violation of these Terms or any law; (d) your violation of any third-party right; (e) your use of our hardware, including failure to comply with applicable recording laws; or (f) actions taken by our agents at your direction, including recording or acting without a consent you were required to obtain.
19. Dispute Resolution
19.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing any formal legal action, you agree to contact us at support@dafdef.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.
19.2 Binding Arbitration
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding.
19.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AND DAFDEF, INC. D/B/A INTERFACES AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
19.4 Exceptions
Either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent infringement of intellectual property rights.
19.5 Consumers outside the United States
Nothing in this Section limits mandatory legal rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction where pre-dispute binding arbitration, class-action waivers, or the governing-law and venue choices below are not enforceable against consumers, those provisions do not apply to you, and you may bring claims in your local courts under your local law.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions, except where the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence applies (see Section 19.5).
21. General Provisions
21.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any consent you give at the point of data collection, constitute the entire agreement between you and us concerning the Service.
21.2 Severability
If any provision is found unenforceable, it shall be limited to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions remain in effect.
21.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right shall not constitute a waiver of that right.
21.4 Assignment
You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them without restriction.
21.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for failures resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, government actions, or third-party service outages.
22. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified at least thirty (30) days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
