Shinta Mani Wild is the steward of a 350-hectare (865-acre) tract of the Cardamom Forest — around the size of Central Park. One of the last unfragmented rainforests in Southeast Asia, it is a biodiversity hotspot, serving as habitat for countless animals, including 54 species on the IUCN Red List. But it is disappearing, encroached by slash-and-burn development, mining, logging, and illegal hunting. And as the forest disappears, so does the wildlife.

Shinta Mani Wild was created as a way to protect this rainforest so that it, and its one-of-a-kind residents, can thrive once again. We are doing that by creating a high-yield, low-impact camp that gives locals an alternative to destructive activities, and by funneling room revenues to organizations that enforce conservation laws.
