X-Men: First Class (stylized on-screen as X: First Class) is a 2011 superhero movie. It is based on the fictional Marvel Comics superhero team the X-Men. Directed by Matthew Vaughn and written by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Jane Goldman and Vaughn, the film stars an ensemble cast led by James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon.It is both a prequel and soft reboot to X-Men (2000), the fifth installment in the X-Men movie series, and the first film in the X-Men prequel quadrilogy.

The movie is the fifth installment of the X-Men Cinematic Universe and is the first movie of the X-Men: Beginnings series.
