I'm trying to get Internet working inside my Windows VM on VMware Workstation, but nothing seems to fix it.

Here's the situation:

  • Host PC is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi

  • VM's Network Adapter is set to NAT (Connected + Connect at power on)

  • Inside the VM I only see Ethernet0 - "Network cable unplugged"

  • ipconfig shows "Media disconnected"

  • I already installed VMware Tools - still no network

  • The VM was installed with "I don't have Internet" during the initial Windows setup, so Windows doesn't even show the Wi-Fi selection screen anymore

Tried:

  • Reinstalling VMware Tools

  • Removing and re-adding Network Adapter (NAT)

  • Checking VMware NAT service on host

  • Checking ncpa.cpl inside VM

Still no luck.

Any ideas what else could cause VMware Tools network drivers not to appear?
