Oof. I lived in rural Canada for almost 20 years and there were “community mailboxes” everywhere. It sounds like an easy thing, but the reality is that a lot of them were in tiny turnouts on roads or just literally by the side of the road. It’s hard to get your car off the road when there’s many people picking up their mail, which there always is, and cars whizzing by fragile human bodies in winter and rain is bad, too.

And the people who can’t get to a community mailbox due to illness or mobility issues are totally left out.

I get that #CanadaPost is broke but wholesale community mailboxes across the board is not the answer.

All I’m saying is that #TeamAmerica was supposed to be a cautionary tale.

Was just pointed to the status.lol app which is making omg.lol services easier to use!

After a particularly long and stressful week, I am happily welcoming the #weekend

Been a good week. Warming up nicely here, although it certainly wasn’t cold over “winter” to begin with.

Made it to the gym all three times I planned and started using some agentic AI for coding help which is neat and fun and geeky.

The weekend is all labour. Have to shift my deck stairs about 4 feet. Seems like lot of work for a small gain but it’ll totally change the flow of the deck.
