Add, edit, and organize your devices in the Google Home app. Your devices are organized in the following categories:
- Favorites: Quick access to devices, automations, and more marked as your favorite.
- All devices: Shows all devices you’ve added in the Google Home app, organized by room.
- Cameras: Shows your camera’s video. Multiple compatible cameras are displayed together.
- Lighting: Control all compatible lights in your home or a specific room.
- Climate: Displays your thermostat and temperature sensors in one place.
- Smoke & CO: Shows the status of your home’s smoke and CO alarms.
Use the Favorites tab to find a quick overview of devices you want to see at a glance.
To organize this list:
- Scroll down, then tap Edit

- Check or uncheck the box next to the tile to add or remove it from Favorites.
- You can also tap Reorder
to drag the tiles into the position you want.
- You can also tap Reorder
Organize your devices by room
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- Tap Settings
Device information
Placement.
- In case Device information isn't an option, tap Placement.
- Select a suggested room name or scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Add a custom room.
Move devices between rooms
- Open the Google Home app
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
- Tap Switch home
, then choose the home you want to switch to.
- Tap Home
All devices
, then touch and hold your device's tile.
- Tap Settings
Device information
Home.
- If Device information isn't an option, tap Home.
- Tap the home you want to move the device to
Next
Move device.
- If asked, tap the room you want to move the device to
Next.
Tip:
- Speakers, displays, and Google streaming devices can be moved.
- Some Nest and Wifi devices can't be moved to a different home.
- If you move a Charging Speaker Dock to another home, you need to move your Google Pixel Tablet to that home too.
Important: If you have a device that can't be moved to a different home, you need to factory reset your device and set it up again in a new home. For more information, refer to Set up smart devices in the Google Home or Nest app.
