Marc Ehudin overcame bogeys on each of the first three holes and trimmed a deficit to a single hole. But Brian Quackenbush was consistent to pull away for a 2 & 1 victory and advance to tomorrow’s Round of 32.

Quackenbush totaled a 2-over 142 for two rounds to be the No. 2 seed. Ehudin played with him at the Dave King Senior Invitational at Evergreen Country Club in Northern Virginia. "Real nice guy," he said. "We're going to have a lot of fun out there. I'm just happy to be playing."

"I feel good about my swing," he said. "I'm not going to worry about what he does and how he plays. I'm going to play my game. Pars are usually very good. I don't think I'll win many holes with pars, but if I can sneak in a birdie or two, you never know what's going to happen."

Ehudin missed birdie putts of about 10 feet on the ninth and 30 feet on the 11th, but a well-struck 5 iron off the tee on the ninth was his best shot of the playoff. "I hit it solid, and that in a way settled me down," he said. "It gave me confidence."

The three playoff holes took two hours to complete, But Ehudin wasn't complaining. "Everybody hit good shots, and I feel lucky to get through - clearly," he said. "But it was so much fun. I really had so much fun."

Ehudin on qualifying via playoff: "I did not know what to expect. Realistically, didn't want to think ahead and think that I would be getting one of the three spots because of the odds and the guys who I competed against. So to actually prevail is beyond thrilling."
