"What is our AI risk?" When the board asks, they often get a different answer from leaders in their organisation. Each holds a piece. Few see the whole. Threat actors have found an easier way in: the front door. Rather than breaching hardened cyber defences, criminal groups, competitors and state-sponsored actors are increasingly seeking direct employment. They use falsified credentials and gaps in screening to gain legitimate, trusted access from day one. The hardest part? They often look like your best candidates. This is no longer a recruitment challenge. It's an enterprise risk issue, and the teams on the front line of hiring are rarely trained to spot it. The fix is to treat hiring as part of insider threat prevention: risk-based screening, scrutiny of contractors and third parties, trained hiring teams, and HR, Security, Cyber and Legal working as one.
