Jamie Ellul shared thisOur work for Somer Valley Brewing has been selected in the Brand Impact Awards. A super fun two year collaboration with our buddy Simon Spilsbury which has grown to over 30 beers. Check out the shortlist here - https://lnkd.in/ef4JAfk4 – up against a couple of other small brewers you may or may not have heard of… Stella and Heineken... 🍻 🏆

Jamie Ellul shared thisChuffed to be in the mix with some great brands and great agencies. Our work for Somer Valley Brewing is selected alongside some mega beer brands like Heineken and Stella Artois – not bad for a little West Country-based craft brewery. Cheers 'en as they say around these parts...Jamie Ellul shared thisThe Brand Impact Awards 2026 shortlist is live! 🎉 From over 200 global entries, our expert judges narrowed it down to 41 exceptional projects across 29 agency teams. What’s next? Trophy reveals (Gold, Silver, Bronze) are coming soon. And then the celebration event on September 22, where we'll announce our special awards, Social Impact, and Best of Show. Huge thanks to our judges and everyone who entered, it's been a phenomonal year. Jamie Ellul shared thisIt's taken us a minute to capture this one – but very proud to share our naming and identity for Somer Valley Brewing's first taproom, The Welly. Building on our packaging work with collaborator Simon Spilsbury, The Welly features on-pack illustrations turned into one-off wall art around the space. And of course a hand-drawn welly motif in Simon's signature style sits proudly on glassware. Safe to say the beer is as good as it looks and the food's also top notch – with a nose to tail approach using beef from Somer Valley's very own herd. If you're ever in Bath then I highly recommend a visit.

Jamie Ellul shared thisAs those that know me properly on here will know - I became a designer slightly by accident. After spending my youth trying to ‘make it’ as a musician - I fell in love with graphic design and branding through designing sleeves and posters for the various bands I played bass in. When I joined Blast Design Ltd in 2006 I was still pretty active in my music making and gigging. But had also decided it was time to take the day job a little more seriously. And it marked a turning point that led to setting up my own agency having learned a lot with Giff and Paul Tunnicliffe So when Colin Gifford asked me to contribute to their 30th anniversary website - I decided making some music made a lot of sense. Writing music is something I’ve returned to in my 40s and I realise now how much joy I get from it as a creative outlet. A buzz I only get from stringing notes together until they sound good. So anyway - get some headphone on and check out the link in Blast’s post below - some spacey psych instrumentalness I’ve called Blast Through the Past. Enjoy…Jamie Ellul shared thisWe invited some of the brilliant people we’ve worked with over the years to be part of our 30th celebration. 30 collaborators. 30 years. One open brief: Explore / Discover. What came back surprised and delighted us. Music from designers. Films from photographers. Stories from copywriters (not so surprising – but still delightful). Thirty completely different responses – each a personal reflection tied to a moment in time. You’ll find them in the 'Orbit Archive', part of the Explore side of our new website – an interactive, experimental space built around our journey so far. We’re starting at 2006 (naturally!), and a piece by Jamie Ellul which epitomises the collaboration. An outlet for a personal passion, and an original creation that we have adopted as the theme tune to Blast 30. As Jamie says, “Stick your headphones on and slip into hyperdrive.” Go and explore ‘Blast Through The Past’ https://lnkd.in/e524E88P Jamie Ellul Matt Baxter Jim Sutherland Stuart Radford Christian Eves Paul Tunnicliffe Victoria Phillips-Walmsley Theo Hersey Jeremy Tankard Tina Touli Fernando Manoso John Ross David Ellis Lee Mawdsley Polly Lindsay Paul Davis Damien Weighill Rob Lowe Maf Bishop Chloe Jackson Nigel Coan Ulla Winkler Professor Lawrence Zeegen Matt Powell Dilys Maltby Pewand Shams Andy Mosley

Jamie Ellul reposted thisJamie Ellul reposted thisI've just wrapped up a 2,500-word bookend essay for my friend Andy Altmann’s forthcoming book ‘typo*’ (sub-titled: ‘A Scrapbook of Typographical Obsession’). The book was finished shortly before Andy passed in October last year, and it is simply astonishing. It only confirms his status as a true giant of British graphic design. I'd urge anyone with the remotest interest in design, typography or creativity to back ‘typo*’ on Kickstarter now. It's destined to be a stone-cold classic. Please repost. Jamie Ellul liked thisJamie Ellul liked thisLast week Pembleton headed to London to collect a coveted D&AD Yellow Pencil for Evil Ray Sunscreen. Having created Evil Ray from scratch only 12 months ago, we were pretty excited to see it up there side-by-side with some of the world’s biggest brands. At Pembleton, and throughout our careers, we’ve been adamant that when you get brand positioning, packaging, brand codes, product and messaging unified and focused around one clear strategy, anything is possible. To prove it on something we’ve built ourselves is literally putting our money where our mouth is. To my partners Mac Wright, Matilda Hobba and Simon Bagnasco - bloody well done. And as always, these things only happen when you work with the best people, so a massive, massive thank you also goes out to our design partners Seachange. pembleton.com.au evilray.com #DnAD #newbrandidentity #moneywhereyourmouthis

Jamie Ellul liked thisOne of my most proud work moments (and busiest weeks!) getting this one over the line. Years of ideas, months of planning, so many people involved and tonight we opened this incredible display to the public. One day down, 91 to go!Jamie Ellul liked thisLast night was an incredibly special one as we welcomed local press and influencers to the Hospice for the official opening of Moments of Light ✨ Created by internationally acclaimed light artist Bruce Munro, Moments of Light is a temporary, large-scale light installation which will illuminate our Hospice grounds from October to December. Inspired by the stories of the people we’ve supported, Moments of Light is a moving artistic experience created in celebration of 50 years of compassionate care. The installation offers a space for reflection, remembrance and connection, while helping us to ensure that Dorothy House can continue to provide care for future generations. The Hospice also featured on last night’s broadcast of BBC Points West, where we heard from Bruce Munro himself, our Director of Marketing & Engagement, James Byron, and our Firefly Woods volunteer, Sue Phillip. You can catch up here (from 16:38): https://okt.to/41KOpS Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s event and for making it such a special evening. We’re delighted to share that the installation is officially open, and we look forward to welcoming you for your visit. Tickets are available here – selected dates have already sold out, so don’t delay!: https://okt.to/wqoiKM 📸 Huge thanks to Claire Thatcher for these beautiful images! #MomentsOfLight #DorothyHouse #HospiceCare #ImmersiveArt #Wiltshire

Jamie Ellul liked thisJamie Ellul liked thisMucho has branded one of the world’s most significant breakthroughs in biology. While parts of Silicon Valley are busy inventing technology to replace more and more of what humans do, apparently leading to the end of humankind, some very intelligent biologists are working on something far more important: Its future. For the first time, humans have built a synthetic cell from scratch. Not modified an existing cell, but built one from its most basic components. Something that can grow, copy itself and divide, and can be openly shared with scientists around the world to study, change and build upon. Is it alive? Maybe? Jamie Ellul liked thisJamie Ellul liked thisWe’ve done it again! This time picking up two Inside Out Awards for the NSPCC creative team earlier this week! Having attended (and won!) one of the first In-house Awards over ten years ago, this means a lot. Not just because of the work itself, but because it recognises the role in-house teams can play in shaping creative strategy, not just delivering it. I was reflecting on the simple idea at the heart of one of the winning projects as it’s running through so much of our work just now: Let parenting look like parenting. For a long time, my instinct would have been to tidy things up. Remove the distractions. Art direct reality into something a little more polished. This project asked us to do the opposite: - The branded clothes stayed in. - The messy bits of life stayed in. - The things that make families think: "Yep. That's us." When I first saw the image of a little girl eating chips on Morecambe pier, I knew we'd captured exactly what we'd set out to achieve. Because families don't need to see perfection. They need to recognise themselves. Huge credit to everyone involved in bringing it to life, and who championed this approach from the start. Sophie Keyte Kevin Yeates Thom Wood Abbie Trayler-Smith And a thank you to the Inside Out team. Years on from those early awards, it's brilliant to see them continuing to champion the creativity, craft and strategic thinking of in-house teams. Emma Sexton Sarah Halfpenny

Jamie Ellul liked thisJamie Ellul liked thisSad to hear NB Studio is closing after 29 years, but my word what a tremendous run. So much great work – the Almeida Theatre a personal favourite – but more than that, it was a studio that gave so much to the industry, in so many ways. "The world we walked into in 1997 was full of hope and possibility," they said. "It still is. It just looks different now, and so do we. Which is exactly why we’re not getting comfortable. "NB Studio, after almost 30 years, is closing. Alan and Nick very much aren’t. We’ll both be working independently. Sometimes together. It’s our new thing. "Same dedication. Same ridiculous attention to detail. Same love of ideas and design. Just a different shape. "NB Studio? That was yesterday. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings." Excited to see what Nick Finney and Alan Dye do next.

I couldn't be more proud of our wonderful team. Kudos to super-producer Sam Taylor, top presenting team Steve Girling and Ben Jones, and to all the generous souls who shared their experiences to help people in prison tackle their gambling issues. This is radio that changes lives. ❤️
