Rob Steeles shared thisI joined ClearScore a year ago and took up the challenge to build a best-in-class in-house creative offering. One of the main reasons for my decision to leave the agency world, was the 'good' principles that are the foundation that upholds the business. ClearScore's very existence came from helping people make better financial decisions when it comes to their borrowing and credit, by making everything clearer, calmer and easier to understand. This isn't just a brand veneer. It's baked into the products ClearScore engineers. "Clearer" is our new automated debt repayment technology. It was born from the insight that more than 60% of people taking out consolidation loans failed to use at least half of the funds to repay their debts. 'Clearer' ensures that when a customer takes out a debt consolidation loan, the money is automatically used to pay off their existing debts - removing the risk that funds are used for other purposes and dramatically reducing the likelihood of missed repayments. Leading a 'Good' creative brand, set up by 'Good' people, to help design products that do 'Good' is a motivational gamechanger. I'm looking forward to creating more good work in 2026.Rob Steeles shared thisWe are delighted to announce that we are launching our bespoke automated debt repayment technology, Clearer, directly into lender credit application journeys. What is Clearer? Clearer ensures that when a customer takes out a debt consolidation loan, the money is automatically used to pay off their existing debts. This removes the risk that funds are used for other purposes, helping lenders price loans more accurately and reducing the likelihood of missed repayments. Partners including Oakbrook Finance and Abound embed Clearer into their own websites and apps, allowing customers to consolidate debts more quickly, safely, and at a lower cost. Debt consolidation has the potential to be a great solution for people struggling to manage multiple repayments, but the current system is broken. Historically, lenders had no guarantee that funds would be used to pay down debt, forcing them to double-count liabilities and creating unnecessary risk. By developing automated debt consolidation technology, we've eliminated that risk - and by white-labelling Clearer, we're now putting this technology directly into lenders' own channels and third-party marketplaces. Rob Steeles shared thisAs a creative leader, it's vital to stay relevant. I've always tried to see my career 12 months ahead of where it is. What's fresh on the landscape? Where are the opportunities, or potential threats? How can I stretch myself? What do I need to learn? All these questions have been put into practice and perspective over the past 7 months, which is why I've been really quiet on Linkedin over this time. Rather than adding to the industry hyperbole, I've been head down relearning, retraining, refocusing, rebuilding and reinventing my creative career away from agency life. I'm now the head of a growing global in-house creative studio at ClearScore - one of the most ambitious and forward-thinking fintech's on the planet. This role affords me the chance to be creatively and strategically at the heart of ClearScore's business. I have every insight, line of data, access to engineers, input into products, and crucially direct lines to the founder and leadership on tap. I'm supported by a small, but incredibly talented team of writers, designers and videographers who are working alongside me to start pushing the brand, the creative tech we use, and the communications we're producing from this point on. I've built and run award-winning creative agencies and departments throughout my career. But heading up the In-house creative Studio at ClearScore is already proving to be the most rewarding and fulfilling move of my career. I'll be posting about how creative #InHouse agency/studio life is, sharing my learnings, lending advice for those who want to make the move, and popping up at a few industry talks and awards-dos. Rob Steeles shared thisBack in 2021, just after the pandemic eased up, I was approached for role in heading up a creative agency in Bournemouth. Knowing this agency was due to merge and become a bigger entity was an incredibly exciting prospect. The chance to build a crack team of creative experts is one of the most challenging, yet fulfilling, parts of being a Creative Leader. My first hire had to be crucial. Get it wrong and the business and team lose confidence in your judgment. That first hire was Matthew Bower - a brilliant senior creative artworker. Matt was truly the missing link in the dept. The business needed an individual at the tail end of the creative process who was fast, efficient, diligent, able to wrangle a broad spectrum of formats, platforms and documents. Matt was undoubtedly the agency's backstop. He'd catch everything. Typos, low res and below par images, layering issues, registration slippage, anomalies in the RGB or CYMK and so much more. If you know, and appreciate, what a brilliant artworker does, and how much they save you time, stress and money, you'd get someone like Matthew Bower in your creative agency or in-house team. And that's the purpose of this post. Matthew Bower is now looking for his next role. The agency (Eleven Miles) merged with GAIN and in reshaping things, they've had to make some tough decisions. However, this is an opportunity for another creative business who needs that brilliant, head-down, get s**t done, reliable, creative yet safe pair of hands individual. The best people inside all these agencies being schmushed togther, are setting up a new wave of agencies and studios to better serve brands with work they truly deserve. Brands don’t want ‘The biggest’, they want ‘The best’. So rather than make this post about the deathnail being well and truly driven into the sickened heart of a dying industry, I want to spotlight the excitement that’s to come from those who dare to defy and do not as they’re told.
