Not a gradual change, but real, visible momentum across the industry. A few things were clear this week: ✅ Agentic Advertising has moved from "coming soon" to already reshaping how campaigns are planned, bought and measured. ✅ The gap between fast movers and everyone else is widening fast. ✅ The window to act is shorter than most people think. Some of the most valuable moments weren't on stage, they were the ones you didn't plan. Running into the teams at The Hotel Communication Network Inc., VideoElephant, DPAA and OOH Connect, LLC across the week. The kind of conversations that only happen when the whole industry is in one place and they end up being the ones that actually move things forward. The opportunity is there. Walton Musgrave liked thisWalton Musgrave liked thisJust back from an intense first week in NYC with the Enterprise Ireland USA, US Landing Pads programme. Less a trip, more a compressed MBA in US market entry. A few things stood out: The US market demands precision. Sessions with Budburst (Zac Trojak, Brian Michael) forced us to get genuinely honest about SAM/SOM and where we have the right to win. Broad positioning doesn't land here,specificity does. Sales and GTM are treated as a science. Between Feargall Kenny on sales hiring, Keith O'Looney and Jonathan Barnes Bernes on scaling sales ops, and Paul McDonnell on AI in GTM - there's a recurring theme: the best US companies systematise go-to-market early. The CTV and AdTech opportunity is real and immediate. A panel featuring Paramount+, NBCUniversal and LG Electronics, plus a dedicated "AdTech's Next Chapter: Innovation, AI and the Challenger Opportunity" session at Digital Irish, confirmed what we're seeing in the data. The window for challenger platforms is open, but not indefinitely. Relationships move fast here. Customer meetings ran throughout the week alongside the programme. New York rewards preparation and directness in equal measure. The programme gave Shinka sharper frameworks, the right introductions, and honestly, a lot of conviction. The foundations are in place. Hugely enjoyed Royal Television Society’s ‘2026 TV Predictions’ panel yesterday, hosted by Katie Razzall, and including Jonathan Allan, Ash Atalla, Ruth Berry, Fiona Campbell and Evan Shapīro. A few takeaways… 💭 Evan speculating that the sheer volume of advertising spend ($13bn!) during the American mid-terms will have a direct impact on the evolution of digital advertising, noting that such substantial spend will drive smarter ad-tech and marketing strategies globally - evolving from the relatively basic art of target demographics into one of psychographics. 🙏 Ash noting that berating the BBC is like punching a baby. No notes. 💥 Some spiciness between old media and new re: the recent BARB data showing YouTube’s reach supplanting PSB and Streamers’ - but then common consensus on the power of niche audiences and focused fandoms, and how algorithmically-delivered content can deliver just that (👀 on Evan’s note that Instagram and TikTok are going hard on their TV apps this year). 🤖 Collective agreement that AI is incapable of supplanting the creative process - but that there’s huge value using it to drive operational efficiencies (global rights management tools, anyone?). Was lovely to catch up with the panellists, as well as Marion Ranchet, Cat Collins, Diane G., Joe H., David Amodio, Julie McKeen, Valerio Motti and Alison Lomax.

This approach ensured representation across channels was intentional and equitable, enabling the campaign to speak to barriers, motivations and aspirations with nuance and respect. We've talked about the strength of Universal ads in the US for a while now and finally it's (almost) here...this is a great initiative and will provide some fantastic opportunities for small to medium-sized businesses to access some great media assets. Whilst buying and measurement might become more straightforward, it's imperative that we retain good media planning and buying practice and campaigns are bought with a clear strategy and using the right data sources... from my experience, there's a big education piece to be done here.
