You don't need to reinstall VMP™ Security when upgrading from Free to Premium. You can simply sign into your account, purchase an upgrade, and complete the process by installing a new license key (if required) or it will complete automatically.
When you upgrade from Free to Premium for the first time, you will need to install a license key on your site. However, if your free site has been added to your VMP™ Security dashboard, you can upgrade without having to copy and paste a license key. The upgrade happens automatically in most cases.
The VMP™ Security plugin is powered by data and services from our servers. This data is delayed by 30 days for our free customers. When you upgrade to Premium, you receive real-time threat intelligence. In other words, as we roll out protection against the newest threats, we update your firewall rules, malware detection, and IP blocklist as new threats emerge. Yes, you can! You can use your VMP™ Security license on both your production site and corresponding staging/development environments. This allows you to test updates and changes safely before deploying to your live site.
Yes! This is one of our most basic functions, and you can get this feature completely free with the free version of VMP™ Security. We continuously monitor your WordPress installation for vulnerable plugins and themes and alert you immediately.
VMP™ Security combines a WordPress firewall, malware scanner, and vulnerability monitoring. We collect data on how WordPress sites are attacked — who is attacking, the methods they use, and how to block them — and our threat intelligence team turns that data into firewall rules, malware signatures, and IP blocklists that protect your site against new vulnerabilities. Premium customers receive these updates in real time; free sites receive them 30 days later.
Each installation of the VMP™ Security plugin requires a unique license key. A Premium license that is valid for a specific production site can also be used on corresponding staging and development sites. Visit our help documentation for additional information on the use of license keys.
