Vogue Ukraine presents the summer 2026 print issue

The summer issue of Vogue Ukraine Edition (№14) is dedicated to the transformations sweeping through the fashion industry, societal consciousness, and culture. The relentless pace at which the world moves is pushing the boundaries of what is possible and acceptable, redefining beauty and good taste—while simultaneously shining a light on values that endure far beyond fleeting trends. Venya Brykalin tells more about the issue.

In the Spring-Summer round of shows a number of newly-appointed designers at the helm of major brands unveiled their debut runway collections: Jonathan Anderson at Dior, Simone Bellotti at Jil Sander, Louise Trotter at Bottega Veneta. Among these beginnings, the jovial and joyous offering by the Loewe designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez (ex-Proenza Schouler) and the Belgian Matthieu Blazy’s spectacular Chanel show at Paris's Grand Palais felt like emotional standouts.

Blazy’s collection of refreshed (and lighter) tweed suits and dazzling dresses earned a standing ovation from show guests and, shortly thereafter, queues of women—and men—eagerly lining up outside the House’s boutiques in the world’s leading fashion capitals: Paris, London, New York, and Tokyo. In a remarkably short time, the designer achieved something last seen with Demna (then still Demna Gvasalia) at Balenciaga and Alessandro Michele at Gucci. In a remarkably short time, Blazy has made the public fall in love with the extraordinary world he’s building and invited us to dream alongside him.

This new crop of designers is reshaping a global, multi-billion-dollar business. More importantly, however, their work is infused with love, empathy and genuine care for the people who will ultimately wear the clothes they create.

We dedicated the Summer issue to the sense of profound transformation currently sweeping through the industry. We turned to what we do best: using fashion to tell stories about different dimensions and facets of beauty, bodily autonomy and good taste.

We invited international teams to produce a range of stories in Paris, Vienna, Puglia, and Lviv. Young Ukrainian photographer Mykola Maichyk, who first came to our attention through last year’s FUTURESPECTIVE project, traveled to Lviv. Diverse in style, geography, and temperament, these images are united by a shared love of fashion as a creative practice, a keen sense of the present moment, and an irrepressible optimism.

In the interview accompanying Maichyk’s shoot ("The Dreamer"), designer, star, and role model for an entire generation of ambitious young Ukrainian women, Katya Silchenko, explains that her love of color became a form of resistance against the gray landscapes of her native Kharkiv. We have similarly filled this issue with color—with stories about inspiring people, and with objects and creations intended to bring beauty into everyday life.

I hope they will become a source of a lasting and meaningful feeling for our readers: joy—the kind that helps us overcome anything.
