But what is a "source text"!?

Errors?

[edit]

What does correcting errors mean? Certainly it doesn't apply to factual errors by the original author. What kind of errors does it apply to? Superm401-Talk 17:36, 22 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

The errors we're talking about refer to copyedit errors (typos that occured from scanning in the text and submitting it--not those written in the text, and others such as that). No, you're right, we aren't talking about factual errors at all. Correcting those would obviously change the source text itself, so we leave those along. | 18:54, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

hi guys! i am new here and would like to help translating pages ...how do i go about it?

Hi! It's quite simple, really. Find pages which interest you, and translate them into the language you want. As long as you agree to release these pages under the GFDL or into the public domain, they are welcome here at Wikisource. Good luck! | 17:06, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

Help:Template link?

[edit]

I'm passionate about helping get a few existing incomplete Wikisource works proofread and validated.

I'm struggling with difficulty searching for templates. I've posted for help in the Scriptorium, and will do so again to get help finding the template I need now, but it would help so much if there was a link to even just a prototype page on how to search Wikisource to find templates, *especially* natural language search terms. It would also help a great deal to make it easier to find the pages some of us new (english language, in this instance) volunteers will need to reference most while working to follow existing guidelines/styleguides to minimize work that others may have to do to clean up our work later.

Eons ago, there used to be a website called "The Garden of Bad Design" and its counterpart "The Garden of Good Design" for webpages - even if there's only a skeleton page with an example or two of what *not* to do or links to the most likely helpful Scriptorium topics, I'd happily contribute time and energy adding the bits I get as answers to my questions -- if someone with more experience were to create the page and set up the basic framework for me to add to.

I'll post this in the Scriptorium soon, but hopefully - if this still isn't fixed another 19 years from now, someone will see it and do something about it.

Grateful to be here, and grateful this resource exists. Grayautumnday (talk) 05:37, 25 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
