Block
Block is a buff applied by a handful of cards. If a card with Block would take any amount of damage from any source, that damage is completely negated and the card's Block counts down by 1.
Information and Strategy
Block functions similarly to
Scrap in that one stack of Block or Scrap can negate an arbitrary amount of damage. Block is used up before
Shell, which is in turn used up before
health or Scrap. However, Block can affect cards that are not Clunkers.
Since any amount of damage can be negated with Block, it can be well-spent tanking a dangerous hit or wasted on a measly one. Play safe with Blocked cards until the time is right to take a big hit.
Block Interactions
Cards and effects that scale with damage dealt will still function normally when damaging a card with Block. For instance, hitting a card with Block using the
Berry Blade will still restore 4 health to the front ally, even though the effective damage was 1 Block.
Demonize and
Bom will increase the damage dealt to an afflicted card appropriately, but it will still never lose more than 1 Block at a time. Hitting a card with Block using the Berry Blade while it has Demonize and 4 Bom will deal 16 damage and restore 16 health to the front ally, and the card will lose 1 Block.
Block will not affect the threshold at which a card with
Overburn explodes; Overburn only cares about the card's health, regardless of any Block or Shell it has. However, Block will still negate the damage dealt by the card's Overburn explosion. If a card survives its own explosion, its Overburn is immediately cleared.
