ChatGPT is an AI assistant made by OpenAI. You can connect ChatGPT to your WordPress.com account to manage your sites, create content, and monitor your site’s activity using natural language.
Before you connect ChatGPT, you need MCP access enabled on WordPress.com. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the protocol that allows AI assistants to securely interact with your sites. If you have not enabled it yet, follow the steps in Enable MCP tool access for AI agents to turn it on.
Connect ChatGPT to WordPress.com by installing the WordPress.com plugin from ChatGPT’s plugin settings. To set up the connection, follow these steps:
- Open your ChatGPT plugins settings by clicking on Plugins in the sidebar.
- Search for WordPress.com:
- Select the plugin from the results.
- Click the “Install plugin” button:
- Click the “Sign in with WordPress.com” button to connect ChatGPT to your WordPress.com account so ChatGPT can recognize your account and site information:
- When prompted, grant ChatGPT access to your WordPress.com account by clicking the Connect button:
Once the plugin is installed and authorized, ChatGPT can interact with your WordPress.com sites through the MCP tools you enabled. You can start typing @WordPress.com in the prompt box to begin chatting with the WordPress.com ChatGPT plugin:
Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT to read and manage your WordPress.com sites. ChatGPT accesses your sites through the MCP tools you enabled in your account settings.
ChatGPT can retrieve information about your sites, including settings, traffic data, posts, and comments. Here are some prompts to try:
- “Which of my sites gets the most traffic?”
- “Show me my latest posts.”
- “Suggest 10 new blog post topics to write about.”
- “Summarize recent comments on my blog.”
ChatGPT can create, edit, and organize your posts, pages, categories, and tags. Here are some prompts to try:
- “Write and save a draft post about [topic] in my usual style.”
- “Create a new page called ‘About Me’ with a short bio.”
- “Update the title of my most recent post to [new title].”
- “Add a new category called ‘[name]’ to my site.”
- “Add an excerpt to my latest draft post.”
- “Change the status of my draft post ‘[title]’ to published.”
ChatGPT can approve, reply to, and remove comments on your sites. Here are some prompts to try:
- “Approve the pending comments on my blog.”
- “Reply to the latest comment on my post ‘[title].'”
- “Mark the comment from [author] as spam.”
- “Delete the most recent comment on my site.”
ChatGPT can update metadata on images and other media you have uploaded. Here are some prompts to try:
- “Update the alt text on my most recently uploaded image.”
- “Update the caption on the image titled ‘[name].'”
ChatGPT can help you organize and tidy your existing content. Here are some prompts to try:
- “Move my post ‘[title]’ back to draft from published.”
- “Trash all posts that have been in draft for over a year.”
Write operations—including deleting content—require your confirmation before ChatGPT executes them. Deleted posts and pages can be recovered from trash for 30 days. Deleted media, categories, and tags are permanent.

If ChatGPT stops responding to requests about your WordPress.com sites, the plugin connection may have dropped. Uninstall the WordPress.com plugin from your ChatGPT plugin settings and connect it again.
If the connection still fails, check that MCP access is enabled in your WordPress.com account settings.
