Travel experts reveal why you should never sit at the back of a plane

From having a great view in the window seat to bagging a spot near the emergency exit.

There are plenty of opinions floating around on where to sit on a plane, and all have different reasoning.

Now, some travel experts have shared their thoughts on where to avoid sitting, and many agree on the same thing.

For those hoping to have a calm and relaxing journey, it may be best to not book a seat on the back row of the plane

Andrea Platania from Transfeero told the the Express why the back row was less 'desirable'.

She said: 'The very last row is typically the least desirable: limited recline, proximity to bathrooms, and more cabin noise.

'Middle seats anywhere are usually least popular unless you're traveling in a group.'

Thomas Cook Holidays Digital Director Nicholas Smith shared a similar take and explained how the back seats experience more turbulence.

He added: 'They are close to the galley and restrooms, service can be slower, food choices may be limited, and it is also the area where movement during turbulence feels strongest.'

For more nervous flyers, Nicholas advised passengers book sears near the wings of the plane.

Travellers who need to disembark quickly for a connecting flight will find themselves better off in an aisle seat near the front.

Keen traveller and blogger Izzy Nicholls echoed the other experts and said: 'Seats at the back are best avoided. They're typically noisier because of engine proximity and galley activity, and you'll be among the last to board and leave the plane.'

Izzy recommended booking seats at the front of the plane for a smoother journey.

Jacob Wedderburn-Day, CEO of Stasher, a luggage storage company, urged passengers wanting more space to avoid sitting nearby toilets and galleys.

He explained that spots where crew members 'often store their things in overhead bins' are not a great choice either.

Meanwhile, passengers who don't want to be cramped next to a stranger can now reserve the seat beside them on one airline.

Virgin Australia has introduced 'Neighbour-Free seating' on select short-haul international and domestic flights.

Using the airlines app, economy passengers can save the spot at 'an accessible price point' of £14 ($30).

But that doesn't necessarily mean the seat will definitely be empty.

The holidaymaker will be notified if their bid is successful two hours before the flight is due to take off.

If the seat ends up reserved by someone else, the passenger will be refunded their bid.
