Lauren Leibowitz promoted in New York Times Opinion

Posted

It is my pleasure to share the news that our own Lauren Leibowitz is being promoted to copy chief in Opinion. In her handful of years working on the copy desk, Lauren has proved to be a deft editor with a sharp eye and discerning judgment. She’s got a knack for keeping the trains running on time, and as most know, she’s a pleasure to work with.

Lauren began freelance editing for The Times in the spring of 2021 and joined the Opinion copy desk full time in the summer of 2022. She was previously a copy editor at The New Yorker and New York magazine and also edited for the Public Religion Research Institute, The Cut, BuzzFeed News, Meta and various book authors. Her first stint in journalism was at her hometown paper, The Record-Review in Bedford, N.Y.

Congratulations Lauren.
