There are no limits on what Tom Hardy can do. Whether it's a smaller-scale drama like Locke or a larger franchise like Peaky Blinders and Venom, he's always a standout – but that doesn't mean he isn't humble enough to step in for the occasional cameo.

Hardy may be a Marvel man now, but one thing you may not know about the British actor is that he had a very small (and secret) role in a Star Wars movie...

During the filming of The Last Jedi, the second in the sequel trilogy (directed by Rian Johnson), rumours began to circulate that Tom Hardy would appear as a Stormtrooper. However, when the film eventually hit the cinemas, fans were left heartbroken (it sounds like an exaggeration – it's not, Star Wars fans are melodramatic, speaking as one) when he couldn't be spotted. It was soon revealed that the scene with Hardy was in fact cut from the film, but that doesn't mean it's been completely lost.

Fortunately, the scene was eventually included in a 'deleted scenes' extras segment that was put on the films Blu-Ray release. The scene takes place when Finn (John Boyega), Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) and DJ (Benicio Del Toro) are infiltrating the First Order base in captain disguises. Hardy's Stormtrooper recognises Finn in his disguise and begins to interrogate him; before things get too tense, he reveals that he's just teasing him, and slaps Finn on the behind.

It's not known exactly why the scene was cut, but given that it's more of a light-hearted scene of comic relief rather than anything significant to the narrative, it isn't an entirely surprising omission. It may not be in the final cut, but at least fans of Hardy and the franchise still got to see it.
