Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story still has a massive grip on Netflix viewers worldwide.
The second in Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monsters true-crime anthology series was released on Netflix on September 19. Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch play real-life brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez who were convicted in 1996 in the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez (Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny).
According to the streamer, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story was No. 1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 TV Shows chart for the week of September 23-29 with 19.5 million views, which equates to 153.8 million hours viewed.
The series debuted at No. 1 on the chart for the week of September 16-22 with 12.3 million views/97.5 million hours viewed.
Netflix also noted that for the week of September 23-29, the series was among the Top 10 most-viewed series on the streaming service in 89 countries worldwide and was No. 1 in the U.S.
The first in Murphy and Brennan’s Monsters true-crime anthology series—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story—is the third most-viewed TV series in English in the history of Netflix with 115.6 million views/1.031 billion hours viewed behind Wednesday at No. 1 and Stranger Things Season 4 at No. 2.
‘Nobody Wants This’ Has Big Debut On TV Chart
The Kristen Bell-Adam Brody Netflix original comedy series Nobody Wants This Season 1 debuted at No. 2 on the streamer's Global Top 10 TV Shows chart for the week of September 23-29.
Nobody Wants This, which debuted on Netflix on September 26, had 10.3 million views— which equates to 45.7 hours viewed—in its first four days of release.
Meanwhile, the Netflix original limited series The Perfect Couple was No. 3 on the global TV show’s chart. A murder mystery starring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber and Eve Hewson, The Perfect Couple had 6 million views/30.7 hours in its fourth week of release.
The Netflix original sports documentary series Mr. McMahon debuted at No. 4 on the global TV chart. The limited series had 4.9 million views/28.2 hours viewed in its first week of release.
Coming in at No. 5 on the global top 10 TV chart was the Lily Collins Netflix original series Emily in Paris Season 4, which had 4.2 million views/25.1 million hours views in its seventh week on the streamer.
The 2018 Fox medical drama The Resident Season 1 (3.3 million views/33.8 million hours viewed) debuted at No. 6 on the Netflix global TV chart, while the Netflix original comedy special Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval (2.4 million views/2.8 million hours viewed) debuted at No. 9.
The first three seasons of the Fox crime drama Prison Break earned three spots on Netflix’s global TV chart. Season 1 (2.8 million views/45.1 million hours viewed) was No. 7, while Season 2 (2.4 million views/38.4 million hours viewed) and Season 3 (2.1 million views/20 million hours viewed) came in at No. 8 and No. 10.
