The weather agency advised the residents in the affected regions to stay alert and take necessary precautions, check road and traffic conditions, and follow any other advisories issued by concerned agencies.

Delhi NCR weather LIVE: According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by light thunderstorms and lightning is very likely to occur at a few places in Delhi: Karawal Nagar, Civil Lines, Patel Nagar, Budha Jayanti Park, Rajeev Chowk, ITO, India Gate, Akshardham, Palam, Safdarjung, IGI Airport, R K Puram.

Similarly, rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely to occur at a few places in the NCR (Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad).

The alert was issued at 3:40 pm on Tuesday and is valid up to 5:40 pm.

The alert was issued at around 3 pm on Tuesday and is valid up to around 5 pm.

Delhi NCR weather LIVE: Congress General Secretary and MP Randeep Singh Surjewala criticised the BJP-led Haryana government and CM Nayab Singh Saini over waterlogging and traffic disruptions in Gurugram.

On X, Surjewala said, “Gurgaon infra has 'collapsed'! Waterlogged & Jammed Roads! Advisory is to 'work from home'! Nayab Saini & BJP Govt's Delivery.”

He alleged, “School buses stranded, roads & streets flooded, people getting electrocuted, govt & administration missing, chaos prevails, fend for urself, and ₹1,400 cr spent, zero result! Calling it 'Millennium City Gurugram!'”

He also shared the DDMA advisory issued after heavy rainfall on August 24.

Delhi NCR weather LIVE: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has approved the construction of two new underground water reservoirs in the city. The DJB has also cleared a project to install smart meters for real-time monitoring of water supply, she said. The measures are aimed at improving water storage and enabling better monitoring of supply across Delhi. (PTI)

Delhi NCR weather LIVE: IMD scientist Dr Akhil Srivastava said Delhi received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, with up to 10 cm recorded in some areas.

“There is a possibility of further decrease in this over the next two days, and only light rain is expected in Delhi,” he said. On the wider weather situation, Srivastava said the low-pressure area that formed over northwest Bengal on August 23 is currently over Jharkhand and adjoining areas, bringing the possibility of good rainfall over east-central India.

“An 'Orange Alert' for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, and east Uttar Pradesh,” he said, adding that a similar alert has been issued for Kerala.

Heavy rain is also expected in parts of eastern India, while warnings have been issued for parts of coastal Karnataka, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. No special heavy-rain warning has been issued for hilly areas, though thunderstorms are possible in Uttarakhand.

To give you an example regarding my own department: the Irrigation Department has seen no significant work for a very long time. The entire infrastructure had fallen into such a dilapidated state that it is now set for major renovation under a World Bank project. All of this has become possible due to a clear vision and a thorough review of how to revamp the Irrigation Department across the entire state of Haryana," she said.
